Game Over, Mr. CEO: Your Wife Is Done (Winter and Chris) novel Chapter 184

Chapter 184

As Zac reached up to wipe away Winter’s tears, Roy stood a short distance away in his black baseball cap, a cold edge settling over him. His hand at his side tightened into a fist until his knuckles cracked.

“G, thank God you showed up. Where the hell were you? We went to your place, and you weren’t there either.” Zion didn’t notice anything unusual about him.

Roy was always cold and quiet. And after a fight like that, it was normal for him to be giving off that kind of murderous energy.

Roy looked away and didn’t answer Zion’s question. He got into a black SUV, and the car drove off.

Zion was completely baffled.

Winter jogged over and said, “I’m taking Zac to the hospital to get his finger checked out. Have the others clean things up here.”

Zion nodded. After giving a few quick instructions, he immediately went to get the car.

Once they were inside, Zac glanced at Winter. “Take me to the hospital where I work. One of my colleagues is a specialist in this area. Other hospitals won’t be as good.”

Winter nodded. Her heart was still pounding. “Okay.”

She knew Zac wasn’t the kind of person who expected anything in return, but she didn’t want to owe him

like this.

If his hand was permanently damaged because he saved her, she would never be able to forgive herself.

It was as if Zion could hear what she was thinking. He pressed harder on the gas and sped toward the Xander hospital.

Zac had already called ahead. The moment they arrived, someone was there to take him in for treatment.

Just like Zac said, it was only a minor fracture in his pinky. It was not a serious injury.

But just as Winter feared, the doctor said it would affect Zac’s ability to use a scalpel.

“I heard you already turned in your resignation,” the orthopedic doctor said. He seemed fairly close to Zac, and his tone was more casual. “You’re really leaving the hospital?”

Zac nodded lightly. “I’m planning to go back to the family company and help take some of the pressure off my father.”

Winter froze.

She turned to look at Zac, now separated from her by the crowd. He gave her a faint smile.

“I just happened to want to see you.”

The elevator reached the first floor.

Winter was just about to step out when she looked up and saw Chris standing outside the elevator in a black suit, his whole presence cold and imposing.

The moment their eyes met, the darkness in his gaze deepened.

A sharp pain pricked at Winter’s chest. She looked away and walked out with the others.

After she had gone a few steps, she faintly heard someone cough.

That sounded like Roy’s cough.
