“It should be soon. We’ll probably hear something internally within a week. The official announcement will likely come about two weeks after that.”

Which meant Winter would probably be leaving Liono City in about half a month.

Skyla’s lips curled into a smile.

That was the best news she had gotten in a long time.

“Where did you get that bracelet?”

Skyla followed his gaze to the ruby bracelet on her wrist. She lifted her hand slightly and said with a smile, “Chris gave it to me.”

Jimmy paused for a moment.

The smile on Skyla’s lips deepened. “I heard it was pawned off after Winter’s mother sold it when the Scott family went bankrupt. Later, Chris bought it at auction.”

“No.” Jimmy took her hand, removed the ruby bracelet from her wrist, and held it in his palm as he examined it closely.

Then he said with certainty, “This is not that bracelet.”

The expression on Skyla’s face stiffened. The smile hadn’t fully faded, which made her whole expression look strangely frozen. “Uncle Jimmy, you must be mistaken.”

After all, Winter’s mother had been dead for years. And even when she was alive, she had hardly crossed paths with Jimmy after marrying Warren. How could he possibly tell whether the bracelet was real?

Besides, how could anything from Chris be fake?

“The rubies are real,” Jimmy said firmly, “but this isn’t hers.”

Skyla’s voice suddenly rose. “How is that possible? I saw Chris win this bracelet at the auction with my own eyes. The final bid was eighty million. After I came back, I asked him for it. Even the box was the same one from back then. How could it be fake?”

Only then did Jimmy understand what she meant.

So Chris hadn’t given it to her willingly.

She had asked him for it.

Jimmy hadn’t had much direct contact with Chris, but from what he knew of him, Chris was the kind of man who was open and straightforward. If he agreed to give Skyla something, he would not play games with it. Otherwise, he simply would have refused.

“Maybe…” Jimmy said thoughtfully, “the bracelet at the auction was already fake.”

The brim of his cap was pulled low.

“What is it?”

“Why are you training so hard?”

The question made Winter’s heart sink a little.

But for some reason, she trusted Roy. She knew he would keep her secret.
