Chapter 192
Suddenly, the speedboat swerved hard, sending up a huge spray of water as it cut in front of the yacht.
With a loud crash, the two boats slammed into each other, and the yacht rocked violently.
Winter’s hands and feet were tied, so she couldn’t steady herself. She was thrown sideways and hit a pile of life jackets, which softened the blow a little. But her stomach was already churning, and the impact made it even worse. A sour wave rose in her throat, and her face turned pale.
The other people on the yacht were thrown off balance too. The force of the collision sent them stumbling, and the yacht was forced to stop.
Zac’s hands were red and stiff from the cold, but he still gripped the wheel tightly. The skin over his knuckles had split, and blood was seeping out. When he saw Winter lying on the floor through the window, his heart clenched.
He let go of the wheel, jumped from the speedboat onto the yacht, grabbed the rail, and swung himself
onto the deck.
Several armed men moved to block his way.
“Mr. Davis, we don’t want trouble with you. Leave now.”
There was no signal out here, so they probably hadn’t heard from Eugene yet. Zac decided to take a
chance.
“The deal is over. You can leave.”
Sure enough, the men looked at each other.
Zac took the opening, pushed past them, and rushed into the cabin. He lifted Winter off the floor.”
Winnie!”
“Are you crazy?” Winter was still shaken by the way he had crashed into the yacht.
Even if she couldn’t return his feelings, Zac was still someone she had known since childhood. She
didn’t want to see him risk his life for her.
At that moment, all of Zac’s restraint fell away.
His eyes were full of worry and pain. “I wasn’t thinking about anything else.”
At the time, he had only had one thought.
He had to stop the yacht.
Only then did Zac seem to realize that he was completely soaked. He loosened his hold on Winter, let her lean against the wall, and untied her. Then he grabbed a life jacket and put it on her, just in case.
“Don’t be afraid. I’m taking you back.”

Chris changed into a tactical jacket that was easier to move in and tossed aside his glasses. The doctor’s warning echoed in his mind.
“Your vision has recovered. The glasses are only for the adjustment period, so try not to strain your eyes.”
Chris lowered his gaze. He held a gun in one hand while quickly loading the magazine with the other.
Inside the silent cabin, the only sounds were the helicopter blades and the click of the gun.
As the storm warning crackled through his headset, Chris’s face stayed cold and calm. Without his glasses, his dark eyes were fixed on the strangely quiet sea below.
She hadn’t even worn a scarf today.
