Game Over, Mr. CEO: Your Wife Is Done (Winter and Chris) novel Chapter 94

Chapter 94

As soon as Winter got home, she felt a sudden, warm rush between her thighs.

She hurried to the bathroom and stripped off her pants. Sure enough, there was a flash of bright red blood. The dull, dragging ache in her lower abdomen began to dissipate, as if a blocked valve had finally been forced open. Now that the flow was unobstructed, the pain vanished.

In truth, a single thought had flickered through her mind on the drive home. What if she was pregnant?

But she had quickly dismissed it as impossible. One time, she took the morning–after pill. The other time, Chris didn’t anything inside her. The probability was practically zero.

What she was seeing now proved it. She was definitely not pregnant.

When she came out of the bathroom, she heard William telling Zion to keep a close eye on her after he left.

He had to go back to his film set that afternoon.

“William,” Winter called.

William turned and walked over to her. “This shoot should wrap faster than expected, so I should be able to come back early. Until I’m back, take care of yourself. And don’t get hurt again. Do you hear me?”

Winter nodded. “Yes, sir.

“By the way,” she added, “that self–defense coach you hired for me before. Is he still in Liono City?”

William looked at her suspiciously.

Winter explained, “I keep running into trouble. If I were better at defending myself, maybe I wouldn’t keep getting hurt. I can’t rely on Zion forever, right? If something happens, I should be able to handle it.”

What she didn’t say was that her agreement with Jimmy had less than two months left.

Jimmy had promised her that if she still didn’t change her mind after two months, he would help register her for an overseas correspondent post in Eveland.

But Jimmy was hard to read. Winter couldn’t be sure he would follow through in the end. That was why, when Skyla came to confront her, Winter didn’t deny asking him for help. With how possessive Skyla was of Chris, she would love nothing more than Winter leaving Liono City as soon as possible.

Once Winter took that overseas post, she would be stuck there for a minimum of three years.

Just like Jimmy had said, Eveland was at war now. If she wanted to survive there, she needed real self- defense skills.

But she couldn’t let William know any of that yet.

William didn’t suspect anything. He waved Zion over. “You’re the one who contacted the coach last time.

“We’ve got a three–day holiday weekend,” she said. “Come home with me. I want you to rest and get your strength back.”

Mr. White’s head turned slightly. Mrs. Xander Sr. shot him a warning look. “If you don’t believe me, ask Mr. White how my appetite has been recently.”

“Mrs. Xander Sr.’s appetite has indeed improved. You needn’t worry, Mrs. Xander,” Mr. White lied through his teeth.

When they reached the Xander estate, Winter helped Mrs. Xander Sr. out of the car.

Mrs. Xander Sr. held her hand instead. “You’re still weak yourself.”

“I’m really okay, Grandma,” Winter said.

This time, the kidnapping had only left her with some minor scrapes and bruises.
