He Didn’t Kidnap Me. Not Exactly novel Chapter 223

Chapter 223

Cornered people made desperate decisions. And desperate decisions got people killed.

And so I couldn’t keep standing here. Not while DeLuca’s was becoming conflicted because he didn’t want me to get hurt. Not

while Aria still had control.

Before I could think myself out of it…

I acted.

I twisted sharply toward her and bit down as hard as I could on the arm wrapped around my shoulders.

Aria screamed.

“You bitch!” Her grip loosened instantly.

I didn’t waste the opportunity.

My hands flew toward the pistol, and we crashed into each other almost immediately. The gun wavered wildly between us as we stumbled sideways, knocking over a small table before slamming into the arm of the couch.

“Daisy!”

I barely heard DeLuca. Everything had become movement.

Noise.

Adrenaline.

Aria clawed at my wrists while I fought to force the pistol away from both of us. We stumbled again, the coffee table overturning beneath our feet while a vase exploded across the floor.

Then-

Bang!

The gun fired, the sound deafened me.

For one horrifying second, I couldn’t tell who had been shot.

Neither could Aria. She looked as startled as I felt. But neither of us stopped struggling.

We crashed into the television stand this time, sending the television toppling sideways with a violent crash that showered us with broken plastic.

My injured side screamed in protest. Pain tore across my abdomen. My strength was fading, but no.

Not yet.

I tightened both hands around Aria’s wrist, forcing the pistol downward with everything I had left.

It was slipping and I almost had it.

Almost-

Then something happened that I never expected.

Aria simply let go, the gun fell. And for the briefest moment, relief exploded inside me.

It was over.

Then her other hand flashed downward, faster than mine. Her fingers caught the falling pistol before it even reached the floor.
