He Didn’t Kidnap Me. Not Exactly novel Chapter 226

Chapter 226

He slowly lifted one hand and pointed toward the right side of the chamber, where several of his senior operatives stood in disciplined silence.

“Rise.”

I obeyed immediately.

“And stand over there.”

My body froze before my mind fully understood why.

To anyone unfamiliar with Father’s court, it would have sounded like nothing more than a change of position.

To me…

It was a sentence.

That place wasn’t reserved for family.

It wasn’t reserved for heirs.

It was where trusted operatives stood while awaiting orders.

Not daughters.

Not successors.

Operatives.

Nothing more.

For the first time since entering the chamber, hesitation found me.

Father’s eyes lifted to meet mine.

That single look erased every thought of resisting.

I slowly climbed to my feet and crossed the room until I stood where he’d indicated. The movement felt heavier than it should have, each step stripping away something I hadn’t realized I still possessed.

Only after I reached the line of waiting operatives did Father shift his attention elsewhere.

“You.”

His voice echoed through the room.

I turned instinctively.

A young woman stepped forward from among the gathering.

My eyes narrowed.

Recognition struck immediately.

Lillian.

Daisy’s roommate.

What was she doing here?

Father glanced toward one of the guards restraining her.

“Release her.”

The guard obeyed without hesitation.

Lillian adjusted her sleeves before walking confidently toward the center of the chamber. There wasn’t the slightest trace of fear in her expression. If anything, she looked pleased to be standing there.

My confusion deepened.

Father regarded her quietly.

“I am told you approached my organization with a proposal.”

“Yes, Master.”

She bowed respectfully.

“I wish to eliminate Adrian DeLuca.”

The chamber remained silent.

Lillian continued without invitation.

“You are the only leader worthy of ruling this city. Every rival standing in your way deserves to disappear, and Adrian DeLuca is one of the greatest obstacles left.”

Father studied her for several moments.

“You described yourself as an ordinary university student.”

“I am.”

“And yet you believe you can accomplish what trained operatives have failed to do.”

“I do.”
