Rebecca burst into laughter.

In truth, she had gone through similar experiences during her younger days. Dance training demanded immense physical energy, and with constant dieting, it was hard to maintain stamina.

Even though her responsibilities that day had focused on logistics and support, they had still been demanding, leaving her genuinely famished by now.

In this foreign setting, as the evening wore on, the group huddled around the table, inhaling the savory aroma from the stew. It created a sense of genuine contentment and ease.

Just then, Rebecca’s phone buzzed with an incoming video call from Vance. She recalled one of his earlier messages mentioning that he had returned to Soliaridge.

He must have discovered the divorce agreement and was now reaching out to discuss it. She quietly took her phone and slipped into the bathroom to answer the call.

But to her surprise, it was Catherine who appeared on the screen.

“Rebecca,” Catherine called out, then began moving about.

Rebecca could see that Catherine was in the apartment where she and Vance had called home for five years. The latter paced from the living room into the kitchen, where Vance was cooking.

Clearly, Catherine was showing off their cozy cohabitation.

“Vance…” she sounded anxious, “come over and talk to Rebecca.”

Vance glanced at the camera for half a second, then went back to cooking. Yet Catherine kept pushing, Come on, Vance. We need to explain to her.”

He ignored her request, and she turned back to the phone. “Rebecca, I’m truly sorry for dragging Vance on the trip. He agreed with my insistence. Please don’t hold it against him. It’s my fault.”

What an interesting way to apologize! On the surface, it portrayed Vance as having been reluctantly coerced, but in essence, it was a subtle boast about their bond.
