He Didn’t Kidnap Me. Not Exactly novel Chapter 272

Catherine was dumbfounded.

On a whim, she had posted a photo of herself in a sheer nightgown, cuddling a shirtless, drunk Vance. It had been up for five seconds before she deleted it, but apparently not fast enough.

“What’s wrong? Cat got your tongue?” Desmond pressed.

“No need to ask her.” Vance pulled Catherine behind him protectively. “Anything she posted was approved by me. If she did something wrong, I’ll apologize.”

He stepped in front of Rebecca, but he couldn’t bring himself to say the word “cripple“.

“Regarding the inappropriate appellation…” he rephrased it. “I sincerely apologize on her behalf. I hope you can be a bigger person and forgive her.”

Rebecca found it ironic. This was the first time he had ever apologized because someone in his circle had mocked her leg.

Aiden and Lucas had done it countless times in the past five years. He had never once stopped them, and today, she had finally received an apology, though he was delivering it on behalf of Catherine.

How ridiculous! His mistress had insulted his wife, and he was apologizing on the mistress’s behalf? This matter was so complicated that people needed to twist and turn just to understand it.

Rebecca was about to turn it down when Vance pulled out his phone. “For the emotional damage, I’ll compensate you.

She paused, accepting it for the sake of money. Her phone vibrated in her pocket. She pulled it out and saw that 500,000 dollars had just been transferred.

“Can’t wait to check the money, huh?” he sneered. “You’ve changed, acting like a completely different

person.”

Rebecca clasped her hands together in mock gratitude. “Exactly what I wanted. My greatest wish in life is to become a stranger to you. Enjoy your trip.”

With that, she left with Desmond and the others.

Vance and Catherine remained standing in the square, pointed at and whispered about by the crowd. The comments were brutal.

Catherine spun in circles, arguing and defending herself against every remark. Vance couldn’t stand it anymore and pulled her back.

“I can’t stand your reputation being ruined like this,” she explained desperately. “We’re innocent. You’re such a good man. I won’t let them talk about you that way.”
