Chapter 66
(Daisy’s POV)
I poured out a heavy breath now.
The room suddenly felt warmer, and I didn’t want to admit why so I paced in but found myself stopping just behind him.
It was against my will as my body just… paused, like it needed a second to catch up with this decision to help and move past the
tension that lingered.
Because of this, seconds passed. Too many, as I was made to realize when he spoke.
“I think it’s clear you’re supposed to sit.”
His voice cut through the silence now, calm and dry as he turned slightly, the corner of his gaze finding me.
“Or do you need a permit?”
I cleared my throat, shaking my head to indicate a ‘no’.
“No.” I vocalized it and moved quickly then, walking around and dropping into the seat beside him, hoping it looked casual and not
like I was struggling to breathe normally.
I exhaled then and pushed forward. “So,” I said, forcing my tone into something normal, “what exactly am I helping you with?”
He didn’t answer immediately. He shifted the laptop closer, his arm moving in the process, and I noticed it.
