Chapter 94
{Daisy’s POV)
This is it.
This is how it ends for me.
My recently established fear was DeLuca talking to or associating with me in public due to the fact of him being a sudden blast of fame and me not wanting attention to my life.
This fear is established, and now, it’s about to happen in the most explosive way because the entire school seems to be here and
currently, I seem to be stuck. Immobile.
The bodies behind me felt like a solid barricade while my body seemed non-intent of motion.
And so my heart was no longer beating. It was attempting escape.
I could feel it. It was climbing and preparing to break out my chest.
“No. Stop…” I whispered under my breath, my fingers curling slightly at my sides as if that would somehow help.
It did not.
Because he was still coming.
Walking, calm and direct. Like this was a completely normal thing to do. Well, to him it was. He didn’t seem to know the problems he could create for me just by hanging around me long enough.
Maybe it’s time I tell him.
I finally attempted to step back, but was instantly reminded of the first problem.
The packed bodies.
I could try to shift through them but right now they were pressed tightly together, still buzzing from the game which made them like a living blockade.
I thought about going around them but realized DeLuca would get to me before he got to them. So with this, I considered fainting.
Dramatic, yes, but effective. If I collapsed, I wouldn’t have to deal with whatever was about to happen.
Unfortunately, my body refused to cooperate.
He was closer now and I panicked badly, but then-
“Hey! That was insane!”
A hand grabbed his shoulder.
Another figure ran up to him. “You carried that entire play, man. Good job.”
More movement and voices followed.
His teammates.
They surrounded him, pulling him into their energy, tapping him on the back, talking over each other, and reliving the match like it
had just altered the course of human history.
But just like that- he stopped coming towards me.
I exhaled now and my hand flew up, pressing against my heart like I needed to physically hold it in place before it ran off and left
“That was crazy,” I whispered to myself. It may look like I’m reacting until the aftermath gets here- all those girls craving for him coming at me because of him. And then there’s also Mabel.
And also the threat message sender.
