She offered a tight, sarcastic smile. "Then you'd better brace yourself for the lawsuit when you two divorce. With her personality, she'll skin you alive."

Brooks was furious. "Juniper, can't you ever hope for something good for us? Forget it. I'm your brother, I shouldn't be fighting with you the second we meet. Just wait here for Mom and Dad."

She didn't want to wait, and she absolutely did not want to see them.

She remembered every single humiliation and every ounce of suffering her family had put her through.

She stared Brooks dead in the eye. "Let go of me."

Brooks had always been a coward. Frightened by the absolute coldness in her gaze, he backed away several steps.

Seeing her husband act so spineless, Nadine furiously rolled up her sleeves. "Juniper, who do you think you're talking to?!"

Juniper turned on her heel and got straight into a waiting taxi nearby.

Brooks finally snapped out of his daze and scrambled to chase after her.

Nadine latched onto his arm to stop him. "Dad was right! We should just act like she died out there! I am not letting people point fingers at my spine because of her."

"Nadine, Juniper is still my biological sister. Go pick up the prescription and take a cab home yourself. Mom and Dad are on their way, and I need to make sure they see her."

He shoved a wad of cash into Nadine's hand.

At the sight of the money, Nadine instantly beamed.

Brooks sprinted to his car and peeled out, chasing after the taxi.

The taxi driver, noticing the car tailgating them aggressively, panicked about getting caught up in something dangerous. He violently pulled over. "I'm canceling the ride."

Juniper was practically thrown out of the car. Without giving her a chance to explain, the cab sped off, leaving her stranded on the side of the road.

Brooks slammed the brakes next to her and threw open his door to jump out, but a barrage of blaring horns erupted behind him. The car behind him was aggressively laying on the horn, clearly doing it on purpose.

This wasn't a parking zone, and whoever was behind him was in a terrible mood. The honking was relentless.

Brooks stormed out, ready to scream his head off, but the moment he turned around and saw a multimillion-dollar Bentley, he instantly clamped his mouth shut. If he left so much as a scratch on a car like that, he would be working the rest of his life to pay it off.

Fuming and defeated, Brooks had no choice but to get back in his car. He yelled out the window, "Mom and Dad are almost here! Wait for me right there, Juniper! Stop acting like a brat!"
