Stella froze again.

Hadn't Jarrod left with Chloe the moment the announcement was made?

How could he have noticed her mood?

Even though her sadness had absolutely nothing to do with Chloe, Stella didn't want to over-explain.

She said firmly, "You must have been mistaken, Mr. Fuller."

Hearing her denial, Jarrod let out a faint scoff.

"If that's the case, then show your welcome through your actions. Chloe is hosting her first departmental meeting on Monday. I want you to draft her meeting agenda and ensure every single detail is exceptionally clear and thorough."

She had to write Chloe's meeting material?

"Wouldn't that be a little inappropriate?" Stella asked.

"It couldn't be more appropriate," Jarrod said, looking down at her imperiously. "You've worked at Mythos Online for over three years. You should know the ins and outs of the project perfectly."

"Chloe just joined the company, so she isn't fully familiar with internal matters yet. I need you to anticipate any unexpected issues that might arise, so she doesn't face a hard time during her first meeting."

Stella thought Jarrod was letting his protective instincts get the better of him.

Setting aside Chloe's position as Deputy Director, just knowing she had him as a backer meant no one in their right mind would dare give her a hard time.

Seeing Jarrod's indisputable expression, Stella didn't argue further.

He was the company's biggest investor, after all. She didn't have the luxury of offending him.

Stella nodded submissively. "Understood."

But her obedience didn't earn her any warmth. Jarrod abruptly slammed the soup bowl down and stood up. "I've lost my appetite. Clear this away."

Soup splattered across the coffee table, making a mess.

Stella stayed silent for a second before grabbing some tissues to wipe it clean.

"Mr. Fuller—"

She was about to urge him to eat a little more, but Jarrod was already at his desk, pressing the intercom. "Notify the relevant personnel. Meeting in five minutes!"

Hearing this, Stella tossed the soiled tissues into the trash and carefully packed the untouched food back into the thermos.
