Sinclair POV
The rogue has his arm around my waist. That knife is in my neck. The guards are starting to surround him from behind. Adrian’s eyes are not leaving me. Aiden and Thalia arrived, and they're growling too.
I’m not nervous, but the rogue has fear seeping from every pore in his body. It’s annoying. Did he really think this last-ditch effort would be successful?
“You know,” I said, beginning my taunt, “Most men have an actual plan in mind when kidnapping someone. I take it that you were not the mastermind behind this job.”
“You know nothing,” he said.
“I know your alpha is requesting my presence, so this wasn’t a random attack. You are here for me, right?”
“Shut up!” he said loudly. Then he turned to the rest of the crowd. “Clear the way. You might want to attack me, but if you come for me, I will take this woman with me. We both die!” he snarled.
Adrian snarled louder. “Not today, you asshole!”
The rogue pressed the knife into my neck, and I felt it pierce. Not deep, but enough to feel a small amount of blood trickle slowly down. Mali is trying to push forward to heal me, but it’s silver; there isn’t much she can do.
‘Adrian, stand down. Right now, I don’t have Mali. The silver is blocking her.’
“How the fuck did you get past us?” Aiden snarled.
The rogue laughed. “Does it matter? What matters is that you are going to clear a path for me, and I am going to take Sinclair to see my alpha.”
Thalia narrowed her eyes. “Julian is your alpha. He promised you a hundred thousand to retrieve Sinclair.”
I smirked at Thalia. She is reading his thoughts. Excellent ammunition for me to use.
I laughed. “Oh, dear. You have been played. Julian is broke, didn’t you know that?”
The rogue stopped. “Liar!”
I laughed louder. I didn’t care about the knife in that moment. I’m still a fighter. “I don’t lie about some of my best work.”
“What are you talking about?”
“I’m the one who hacked into his accounts, siphoned his money, and sent all the details to the council and authorities in the human city. He’s broke. He has one bank account left, and it’s not enough to keep his operations going.”
“He gave my twenty-five thousand up front.”
“He will take it back as soon as you hand me over and then kill you, dumbass. Don’t believe me? Check your accounts. I bet your money was already siphoned back,” I laughed.
“Grab my phone from the pants pocket. Nothing funny, or you die!”
I leisurely reached for the phone, turned it on, and waited for the instructions for him to check his bank account. When he opened the banking app, he saw the money was withdrawn.
“That son of a bitch!” he growled.
I’m still laughing. “I told you. He played you. Since you are not getting paid to do this job, I’ll give you one opportunity to let me go. Otherwise, don’t blame me for what happens next.”
“Let you go, so everyone here can tear me apart? I don’t think so.”
I sniffled and nodded as I turned to Adrian. He scooped me up and walked me inside. “I’m sorry, baby. I thought we cleared the area.”
“It’s not your fault, Adrian. How did he even get through?” I asked.
“We are not sure. Dad killed him before we could beat it out of him.”
I chuckled. You know I’ve never had a good father figure. What he did just now…it made me feel special. Does that sound silly?”
“In the best possible way, little sin,” Adrian said as we entered our room.
He set me down on the couch and got a first aid kit from the bathroom. He sat next to me and looked at my neck. I thought it was very sweet. It takes a long time to get used to something that I’ve never had.
I don’t doubt the love everyone has for me, but forgetting the last twenty years of my life isn’t something one can do overnight. I’m still not used to the gentleness. Still not used to being fussed over. I’m still adjusting to all the things Adrian does for me.
“Weren’t you injured?” I asked. “I know I felt it in the pack link. Also, who died?”
“Yes, I was, but Thor has already healed me. Terrance died. A rogue tripped him up, and he was impaled by a broken branch from a fallen tree. Aiden is taking care of talking to his folks. He wasn’t mated yet.”
I felt sad at his words. Terrance was barely twenty. He was a good warrior. It’s a shame he never found his mate. That might be a blessing in disguise for whoever they were, though.
I immediately hugged Adrian. “I don’t want to imagine anything happening to you or our family, Adrian.”
Adrian held me tight. He isn’t making fun of me. He isn’t acting amused. He is only holding me with absolute sincerity. “I felt the same way, watching that rogue hold a knife to your neck, little sin. Do you understand why I don’t want you walking into Julian’s lair?”

What happened to the storyline? After Chp 100 it is a completely different story! This is terrible!...
So many missing chapters and repetitions. A different story altogether from chapter 101...
