Candy POV
The signal died. Where did it go? I hid it well in between the lining. There is no way she could have found it. I tried refreshing the signal several times, and nothing. It’s like it ceased to exist.
“What are you doing, Candy?” Ronan asked from behind me.
“The tracker I installed. The signal is dead,” I explained.
“We know where she is; just keep your eyes on her. I have to see Julian. That asshole apparently thinks I’m his lap dog. When this war finally comes, I will enjoy killing that bastard.”
I turned in my seat. “I still don’t think it’s a good idea to align ourselves with him.”
“I need his intel and resources. You need to continue working on your skillset. Sinclair was able to knock you out quickly.”
Irritation got to me. “She shot you,” I retorted.
He rushed over to me and grabbed me by my neck. “She is a skilled fighter, Candy. She is strong. She shouldn’t be as strong as you; she’s a fucking omega. Do you understand?”
I’m gasping for air. “Yes,” I rasped out.
He dropped me on the ground. His eyes darken with lust. Every time he makes me submit, he gets this way. He sits back on the couch. He is twenty years older than me, and he keeps treating me like a tool of all different capacities. As long as Sinclair dies, it’s worth it.
“Sit on my lap, Candy,” he said.
I stand up and walk over to him. “Promise me, I get to kill her, Ronan. I want to see the light leave her eyes,” I said, as I undid his pants and let his cock spring free.
His breathing deepens. “I promise, Candy. I want Adrian anyway.”
I lowered myself on him. “After the war, you make me an official hunter, right?” I asked, rocking my hips while he moaned.
“Yes. You will have access to all the resources, as long as I have access to you,” he said, forcing me to bounce on him.
I hate doing this, but I have a goal,, and he is the means of reaching it. Besides, it’s not terrible. I imagine myself riding her mate. It’s much more satisfying that way. I saw how he looked at her at every stop on their way back to Blackstone. He is stupidly in love with Sinclair. Why? Why does she get a hot-looking man like him, and I’m stuck riding this old man?
I love this man so much. He changed everything for me. We have roughly ten months left before this war. Sinclair and Kaia are finally making strides in the glove, thanks to Sinclair’s gift.
Sinclair said next week, the prototype should be ready. I hope this timeline is sufficient to get it into production. The Moon Goddess said the path to the war is long, but the war itself would be quick.
The Moon Goddess says I’m the chosen one, but I honestly don’t see it. I am just one person. How am I supposed to win a war?
“Mojito, you are driving me crazy with those thoughts of yours. You are the most incredible woman I know, and I grew up with my mom and sister.”
“Something is worrying me about this war, Aiden. The Moon Goddess said that there would be casualties on both sides and the war itself would be quick. We already lost Amber. How many more will we lose? I don’t know that I can bear to see it.”
Aiden stiffens. He’s been thinking about it, too. Does that mean he’s been blocking his thoughts on the subject?
"Yes. I have. I don’t want you to worry, Mojito. In war, there are always casualties. There is nothing we can do to stop it. I am worried about our families. Not just our pups, but our brothers, sisters, friends, and the pack members. I view them all as family. To lose any of them is to lose a part of a beating heart, and yet, we won’t be able to stop it,” he said. “But one thing I do know is that I will not allow anything to happen to you or our pups. You five are my priority, Mojito.”
He leans down and kisses me, then presses his forehead to mine, and I whisper, “But everyone else is mine.”
