I thought about it all night. I know Adrian is upset; I can’t help what needs to happen. I spoke to Angelo about it. It was his idea to start. Maybe he can give me another idea.

Once in the lab, I brought Angelo into my small office. In very hushed tones, I explained to him the one piece of information I had been holding back.

“I need to tell you something. I don’t think I have mentioned it before. I’m not unmated.”

Angelo’s eyes widened. “I thought you said you rejected your mate.”

“I did. He rejected my rejection, Angelo.”

“The only mate that can do that is an Alpha.”

“Adrian Willis is my fated mate, Angelo. I told him about your idea for telling Julian I accept becoming his Luna. I told him that Julian might try to do something intimate with me, like kiss me, or something.”

“He got pissed, didn’t he?”

I sighed. “Yeah. I don’t blame him either. It was your idea to start. Any ideas how I can prevent it? You’re a guy. Tell me something.”

He sat back. “He’s going to want some kind of confirmation.”

“I don’t want Adrian feeling betrayal pains. I won’t do that to him. If we can’t think of something else, then we are going to have to risk me not accepting him and creating an excuse to leave.”

Julian’s eyes lit up. “I have an idea.”

“What?” I asked, desperately waiting for a solution.

He leaned in. “Here’s what you are going to do…”

He spent ten minutes running down the plan. We bounced a couple more ideas off each other, and when we were done, I sat back. I released a breath I had been holding since my conversation with Adrian last night.

“Timing is going to be everything, Angelo.”

“I know. Go up to see him seven minutes before the alert happens; I’ll take care of the rest.”

“Okay.”

I’m incredibly nervous, and I have to put my bravest and most natural face on for this encounter. I still have one hour before I need to start this plan. I go over in my head what I am going to say and how I’m going to position myself.
