I Chose Me Over My Marriage novel Chapter 22

Her words hit Lyra right in the heart.

She was right. Living alone was just living alone; she might as well move in with her friend.

Back in her room at the villa, with Chloe's help, she quickly packed her suitcase.

But then Lyra noticed something terrifying.

The Lennox Heirloom was gone.

Ever since her grandmother passed away, the necklace had been her only keepsake, and she had always kept it meticulously safe.

She clearly remembered placing it in her jewelry box. How could it just vanish?

Knowing how much the heirloom meant to Lyra, Chloe immediately tried to calm her down. "Don't panic. Think about it carefully. Did you put it somewhere else?"

Lyra shook her head in denial. "Absolutely not. I left it right on..."

Her voice trailed off abruptly as her memories drifted back to that day.

She had been in a rush to head out, wanting to cook a meal for Maxwell herself, and had completely forgotten to tidy up her vanity.

By the time she returned, Maxwell was already home, standing right in front of her dresser.

She just hadn't noticed if the necklace was missing at the time.

Looking back now, if it was truly gone, Maxwell was the only one who could have taken it.

A cold wave of dread washed over Lyra's spine.

Seeing the blood drain from her face, Chloe asked with concern, "Don't worry, we'll definitely find it."

Lyra snapped out of her daze and forced a smile, shaking her head. "It's fine. I probably just missed it while I was rushing. I'll come back and look for it later."

Hearing this, Chloe didn't press further and headed home first with Lyra's luggage.

Returning to the villa she had lived in for years, Lyra felt surprisingly numb.

A place that held so many of her memories now felt utterly foreign.
