I Rejected My Obsessive Werebeast novel Chapter 75

The Kane Foundation has a dedicated security and intelligence analysis team,I said, looking up at him. I want to go to the foundation tomorrow and sit down with Kane in person. We need to evaluate whether a

warehouse operation is feasible, and if it is, what resources we’d need to pull it off.

Silas nodded. He reached over and pulled me closer, his arm heavy and warm across my shoulders. I’m coming with you. I’m not letting you face these people and these risks alone anymore.

I leaned into him, watching the streetlights flicker on outside the window, one by one, along the same street where someone had stood with a camera and taken our picture. Phoebe was still out there. Lucien was still watching. And somewhere in the Colosseum, Connor was still digging for information that might get him killed.

The game was far from over.

The next morning Silas drove me to the Beast Rescue Foundation. We parked in the underground lot and took the elevator up together, walking through the glassfronted lobby past a receptionist who gave us both a polite nod and then did her very best not to stare. The gossip hadn’t stayed online anymore. It had followed us into the building.

Kane’s office was on the third floor. When we walked in, he was already standing behind his desk, which had been transformed into something resembling a war room. Printed materials covered every available surface- satellite images of the warehouse perimeter pinned to a corkboard, Connor’s handwritten shift rotation schedule spread out under a paperweight, and a thick folder labeled with a date range that I recognized as the social media sentiment report from the foundation’s

communications team.

Kane looked up when we came in. His eyes went from me to Silas and back again, and there was no surprise on his face at all. He simply gestured to the chairs in front of his desk and pushed a stack of printed documents toward the center of the table.

Our analysts ran through every scenario,he said, tapping the top page with his index finger. This warehouse is fortified at a level above the Colosseum. There’s a rotating external patrol, the walls are reinforced concrete, and every entry and exit point is covered by surveillance. A formal search warrant application won’t hold upwe don’t have enough admissible evidence to convince a judge. And a covert entry, if it triggers an alarm, puts us in a position where we can’t extract cleanly. Worse, it would directly endanger the beastmen being held inside.

Silas leaned forward, his eyes moving across the satellite images and the annotated floor plans. His brow was drawn tight, the muscles along his jaw working. What about Connor? Can he get us an internal layout?

I shook my head before Kane could answer. He’s already risked himself more times than I can count. If we push him to steal internal blueprints and he gets caught, the only thing waiting for him is the death arena. I can’t put all the weight on him.

Kane leaned back in his chair, his fingertips drumming a slow rhythm against the desk. He was quiet for a long moment, his eyes fixed on something only he could see. Then he looked up at us.

There’s a retired technician who used to work for the foundation,he said. Years ago he was involved in a renovation project in this district. He kept a personal archive of old building records from that era. If any of those files include the original structural plans for the warehouse, we’d have exactly what we need without putting Connor in any additional danger. He paused. I can reach out to him. But I can’t guarantee he’ll agree, or that the documents still exist.
