"Hey, did you see? She's got an insane tolerance for humiliation. She got treated like a dog all afternoon and didn't even dare to squeak. How pathetic is that?"
"She deserves it! Who told her to act like a slut and try to ruin Dr. Miller's relationship? Did she really think working the front desk would bother Dr. Miller? She needs to take a good look in the mirror. She's completely out of her league!"
"Exactly. Dr. Miller was the one who cured Mr. York's amnesia. But this girl tried to steal the credit, and the boyfriend looked at her like she was literal trash. Like blowing his nose and tossing the tissue."
"It's hilarious. She's just an unlicensed amateur. Does she even know how to spell medicine? Probably learned it from some voodoo witch doctor in the mountains. And she wants to compete with Dr. Miller? She isn't even fit to lick Dr. Miller's shoes!"
"I heard from Dr. Miller that Dr. Zimmerman practically forced HR to hire her. Tsk, tsk. She looks so innocent, but God knows whose bed she crawled into behind closed doors. If Dr. Zimmerman's wife finds out, she'll rip that home-wrecking face right off!"
"These girls who crawl out of the slums are just cheap and easy to the bone! The second Mr. York dumped her, she latched right onto our director. For the right price, I bet anyone could get in her bed..."
Bang!
The restroom stall door was violently kicked open, slamming against the wall with a deafening crash.
The two nurses, who had been applying makeup in the mirror, jumped out of their skin.
They spun around, instantly coming face to face with Bonnie, whose expression was so dark it looked murderous.
"Keep going." Her voice was quiet, but as cold as ice. "Why did you stop?"
The two guilty nurses exchanged panicked glances. Without even zipping up their makeup bags, they scrambled out of the restroom in pure terror.
Bonnie turned on the faucet and calmly washed her hands.
If she wasn't mistaken, this entire hospital-wide smear campaign started right at Seraphina's desk.
She pulled a paper towel, dried her hands, and marched straight toward Seraphina's clinic.
But just as she reached the door, a heavy voice called out from behind her.
"Bonnie, come here for a second."
Bonnie stopped and turned around.
Dr. Zimmerman stood by his office door. His face was grave, and the look he gave her carried a mix of scrutiny and distance.
The clinic was only so big. The slightest whisper spread to everyone's ears almost immediately.
Bonnie pressed her lips together and followed Dr. Zimmerman into his office.
"Leave the door open."
Dr. Zimmerman sat behind his desk, his tone strictly professional.
Bonnie's grip tightened on the doorknob, but she ultimately obeyed and let go.
She stood slightly sideways, her peripheral vision catching the subtle, prying, and disdainful glances from the staff outside.
Even Seraphina was standing a few feet away, watching with a cold smirk.
