I Was His Wife, Then His Widow, Then No One's But My Own novel Chapter 172

Nora looked down, a self-deprecating smirk tugging at her lips.

"So busy you didn't even have time to send a single text?"

Hearing this, Sienna actually felt a wave of relief. She had guessed right; Nora was just throwing a petty tantrum.

She continued to shake Nora's arm, her voice drawn out in a sickly sweet whine. "Oh, stop being mad at me! Look, I even brought you a gift. Come see!"

As she spoke, she yanked hard. The exaggerated movement caused her elbow to slam directly into the freshly unstitched wound on Nora's left arm.

A sharp, explosive pain radiated from the gash. Nora gasped sharply, the color instantly draining from her face.

Sienna immediately let go, sitting up with feigned alarm. "What's wrong? Did you hurt your arm?"

She looked down, finally noticing the jagged, stitched scar on Nora's left arm.

Although the stitches had been removed, the new flesh was still an angry pink, creating a stark contrast against her radiant skin under the living room lights. The gash was much longer than she had anticipated.

Nora's heart sank. Her wound wasn't exactly hidden; she was wearing short sleeves, leaving most of the scar exposed.

Yet from the moment she walked in until now, Sienna had been too busy whining and complaining to notice, only realizing it after physically ramming into it.

It was blindingly obvious whether this so-called concern was genuine or a complete farce.

Sienna launched into a panicked apology. "Oh my god, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to! Nora, sit down, quick. My god, how did you get hurt this badly? Look at all those stitches! I'm the worst. I can't believe I just hit your wound. Does it hurt? Is it throbbing?"

She pulled Nora back onto the sofa, her eyes actually welling up with fake tears.

The tight knot between Nora's brows slowly eased. Watching Sienna look so desperately guilty, the icy wall around her heart thawed just a fraction.

Perhaps she was overthinking things. Maybe Sienna still cared about her, even if just a little.

She leaned in again, though this time keeping a safe distance to avoid Nora's arm.

"Finnegan has been dead for years. There's no need for you to mourn him forever. It's time to think about moving on and getting married again."

At that exact moment, Nora finally understood the real reason Sienna had come over.

It was to convince her to remarry.

It was to secure Seraphina's happiness, pushing Nora—a friend of a decade—as far away from Finnegan's memory as possible.

A suffocating weight pressed down on Nora's chest. She lowered her head and let out a soft, mocking laugh, directed entirely at herself.

How could she have been so blind to the malicious intentions hiding behind Sienna's smile?

Seeing Nora laugh, Sienna assumed she was actually entertaining the idea. She quickly added, "Honestly, you should have started dating again a long time ago. As it happens, I know someone who is an absolute perfect match for you. Let me introduce you two!"
