I Was His Wife, Then His Widow, Then No One's But My Own novel Chapter 233

After Nora's sudden outburst, everyone in the conference room froze.

The smile on Seraphina's face didn't even have time to fully form before it stiffened. She clenched her hands tightly, her palms damp with sweat. Had Nora actually noticed something?

Impossible. No one could detect the subtle tampering she had done!

"What nonsense are you spouting? This is Mr. Fletcher's computer. Are you suggesting someone messed with it?"

"If you're incompetent, just admit it instead of shifting the blame. Nora, you're becoming a joke."

Nora shot her a cold glance but didn't bother responding.

Director Winston, who had just stood up to leave, slowly sat back down. His eyes, magnified behind his reading glasses, settled back on Nora.

"What did you say?" Director Winston asked with a frown.

Nora stood up and turned the laptop screen toward the front of the room, pointing her finger at the line she had just opened.

"This data set is wrong. It's not my model that has an issue; someone has tampered with this specific computer.

Last night at 10:07 PM, someone ran an unauthorized script in the system's backend. The script's path leads directly to the experimental data I placed in the shared folder.

The visitor logged in using Mr. Fletcher's account, but the login time was at ten o'clock last night. Mr. Fletcher, where were you at that time?"

The question made Finnegan sit up straight.

He instinctively glanced at Seraphina. Within seconds, her face had gone completely rigid, and she avoided his gaze.

Nora finally turned to look at her. The icy glare in her eyes made Seraphina's next accusation catch in her throat.

Nora didn't argue. "Dr. Shaw, I haven't named anyone yet. You seem awfully eager to defend yourself. Do you know something we don't?"

Seraphina's lips trembled, her expression as ugly as if she'd just been slapped in public.

Nora looked back at Director Winston. "Director Winston, you're a veteran of the Fletcher family. You know better than I do what this computer's operation log proves.

I don't want to waste any more of your time. I simply ask that Mr. Fletcher authorize the tech department to pull the hallway security footage outside this office from around ten o'clock last night.

If the footage shows someone entering Mr. Fletcher's office during that time, then the data deviation today is not my fault. But if the footage shows nothing unusual, I will withdraw my collaboration proposal immediately and never mention it again!"

Felix frowned, wanting to warn her that if the cameras had malfunctioned during that specific timeframe, or if the angle was wrong, she would be completely backing herself into a corner.
