Zelda walked over from behind, observed for a moment, and smiled, patting Nora on the shoulder. "Excellent work. Can we start collecting samples at the hospital tomorrow?"
Nora nodded, a rare hint of undisguised excitement in her voice. "If nothing goes wrong, we can start tomorrow."
Zelda's eyes grew slightly red with emotion.
The experiment could finally move forward. This research had been stalled for far too long since its inception, enduring countless setbacks.
Before Nora returned, both she and Xavier thought that given Finnegan's stubbornness, the project might never progress. They hadn't expected to see the turning point arrive so soon.
Life was truly miraculous; you never knew when a turning point would appear, instantly leveling a mountain you thought you could never cross.
Seeing Mrs. Vance's reddened eyes, a wave of warmth washed over Nora's heart.
She spoke with absolute earnestness. "Professor Vance, Mrs. Vance, I promise I'll give it my all."
Hearing the news, Felix pushed open the door from the adjacent lab, a brilliant smile on his face. He gave her a big thumbs up. "Way to go, Nora! I'm coming with you tomorrow!"
Nora turned to him and smiled. "Of course. I wouldn't go without you, Felix."
The two shared a smile, no more words needed. Their eyes reflected a deep mutual understanding and unspoken trust.
Just then, Nora's phone started ringing.
She glanced at the flashing name on the screen, her smile instantly fading. She took her phone and walked to the end of the hallway before pressing accept.
If Nora hadn't insisted on playing the pure saint and just gotten with her cousin sooner, Sienna wouldn't be suffering like this!
It was all Nora's fault—acting so high and mighty while having absolutely nothing to show for it!
Now she had to hide out in this dingy rental, too terrified to even step outside for fear of debt collectors finding her.
Driven to absolute despair, Sienna sobbed as she dialed Seraphina's number. It rang a few times before connecting, and Seraphina's gentle voice drifted through the speaker.
"Sienna? Why are you calling me? Where are you?"
Sienna sobbed uncontrollably. "Seraphina, Nora is driving me to a dead end! You have to save me!"
