Hearing those words, Sienna slowly turned her head back.
The intense hatred in her eyes hadn't fully dissipated, but a trace of doubt had crept in.
Seraphina's logic was undeniably sound. If she truly wasn't afraid of the secret getting out, she completely lacked a motive to poison her.
Catching that fleeting moment of wavering in Sienna's eyes, a spark of triumph flashed in Seraphina's heart, though she flawlessly maintained her facade of deep sorrow from being wrongly accused.
Seizing the moment, she pressed on, her tone turning incredibly earnest and profound.
"I know you're harboring a lot of resentment toward me. The reason I didn't call the police right away was because I wanted to wait for you to wake up so we could talk this through properly. Sienna, do you honestly believe I'd do this? We've been best friends for years. Why would I hurt you? Think about it carefully. Who benefits the most from seeing you like this? Who would be the happiest?"
Sienna seemed to genuinely absorb her words, her eyes turning thoughtful.
Then, her pupils suddenly shrank. As if she had just remembered something crucial, her entire body grew frantic once more.
She started letting out raw, guttural roars at Seraphina, wildly gesturing in the air, her emotions far more violently unstable than before.
Seraphina rushed to press her hands on Sienna's shoulders to hold her down, her voice urgent and laced with concern. "Stop yelling! Protect your throat! Your vocal cords are still recovering, you can't strain them like this!"
If she hadn't gone to meet Seraphina, she would never have touched that poisoned wine! Nora must have been lying in wait along her route, meticulously plotting this fatal strike.
But Sienna never imagined Nora could be this vicious. She thought Nora just wanted her money, wanted to sue her. She never expected Nora to come for her voice—to come for her life!
Watching the raging venom boiling over on Sienna's face, Seraphina knew she had successfully manipulated her hook, line, and sinker.
She reached out, gently patting the back of Sienna's hand. Her tone was the picture of gentle consideration, sounding as if she truly had Sienna's best interests at heart.
"Just calm down for now and think carefully about your next move. The most important thing right now is your recovery. Everything else... we'll plan it out together after you're discharged."
