I Was His Wife, Then His Widow, Then No One's But My Own novel Chapter 270

Seraphina smiled, walked over, and bought it for her with a grand wave of her hand, not even bothering to flip the price tag.

Just as Cassie was on her tiptoes trying to pick the next piece off the rack, she caught a glimpse out of the corner of her eye of the pink-themed Pink Peony Boutique across the way. Suddenly, she spotted a familiar figure in the glass display window.

Her little eyebrows instantly scrunched together. Why was Mom here?

Her first reaction was to hide; she couldn't let Mom see her. If Mom saw her buying clothes in this style, she would definitely be mad, and then she would start nagging again just like before. Mom was the worst.

She was just about to sneakily turn away, but before she could take a step, she saw a little girl suddenly appear next to her mom.

That little girl ran up to her mom holding a puffy pink dress, tilting her little face up and smiling radiantly as she said something.

Cassie froze in her tracks, because she recognized that girl—it was Bonnie!

Mom didn't have time to see Dad, but she had time to go shopping at the mall and buy dresses with this little girl!

Cassie was so furious her little face flushed red. She violently hurled the black jacket she had just picked out back onto the rack and bolted toward the store across the hall.

Seraphina was just emerging from behind a clothing rack holding a black and pink color-blocked dress. "Cassie, look at this one—" she started, only to look up and realize the kid was gone.

Her face instantly drained of color, her heart leaping into her throat.

She spun around and rushed out of the store, only then spotting Cassie running into the children's boutique across the way. Her heart, which had been in her throat, finally crashed back into her chest.

Mom had never gone shopping with her like this. Every time she brought her out, it was always a rushed affair. She never squatted down to ask what kind of clothes she wanted to buy, and she hadn't smiled at her like this in a very long time.

Her sense of injustice surged up in an instant, but her pride wouldn't allow her to cry in front of Bonnie.

Then she realized that her mom really had been much colder to her lately. Maybe it wasn't because Mom didn't love her anymore, but because she had been constantly fighting with Mom.

If she kept yelling at Mom so fiercely, Mom would only dislike her more and would rather play with Bonnie.

So she changed tactics. She stepped forward, wrapped her arms tightly around Nora's thigh, buried her face in her mom's clothes, and spoke with a thick sob in her voice, "Mom, do you not want me anymore?"
