I Was His Wife, Then His Widow, Then No One's But My Own novel Chapter 323

Finnegan's face turned icy. He had been simmering with jealousy ever since he saw Nora exchanging warm glances with Xander earlier. Now, seeing her push their family's business to the bottom of her priority list was the final straw. He simply wouldn't allow it.

He slammed his foot on the gas. As the car lurched forward, Nora ripped off her high heel and began smashing the heel into the window glass with terrifying force. She wasn't going to stop until she broke through.

Finnegan's eyes widened in horror. "Nora, you're crazy!"

She glared at him, breathless and furious. "Yeah, maybe I am! And before I completely lose my mind, I suggest you unlock these doors. Because if you don't, I'm going to smash a lot more than just this window!"

Terrified, Seraphina frantically grabbed Finnegan's arm. "Just let her out! Get rid of this lunatic!"

Face dark with fury and utterly out of options, Finnegan slammed the brakes again and hit the unlock button.

Before the car even fully stopped, Nora shoved the door open and threw herself out. Her ankle twisted painfully as she hit the pavement, but she didn't look back once. Limping to the curb, she immediately hailed a passing cab.

Finnegan sat gripping the steering wheel, his chest heaving with rage as he watched her go. Beside him, Seraphina was pale and trembling. "She's out of her mind. She really would do anything, Finn. You have to stop getting tangled up with her. I'm terrified she's going to hurt you."

"What if she finds out you've been lying to her all this time? Who knows what kind of extreme revenge she'd take?"

Finnegan pulled Seraphina into his arms, softly stroking her hair to calm her down. "It's fine, Sera. Don't be scared. I've got everything under control. I promise."

Seraphina didn't push the issue. She had planted the seed of doubt, and that was enough for now. Her next moves would have to be much more ruthless.
