I Was His Wife, Then His Widow, Then No One's But My Own novel Chapter 340

Her period cramps were usually only brutal on the first day, easing up significantly by day two, which was why she only ever needed painkillers on day one.

Nora threw off the covers and got out of bed, turning back to check the sheets. She let out a sigh of relief.

Thank goodness there were no stains, otherwise this would have been mortifying.

When Nora made her way downstairs, she found Xander and Bonnie already sitting in the dining room.

The moment Bonnie saw her, she bolted from her chair, aiming for a massive hug. But midway there, she remembered something, slowed down, and gently wrapped her arms around Nora's waist. Looking up with a bright, sunny smile, she asked, "You're awake! Does your tummy still hurt?"

Hearing Bonnie's genuine concern warmed Nora's heart.

In the past, whenever her stomach hurt, Cassie never once checked on her. Instead, her daughter would accuse her of faking it just to get out of helping with crafts.

Nora smiled and gently stroked Bonnie's hair. "I'm all better now."

Bonnie took Nora's hand and led her to a chair. Nora paused in surprise; a soft, plush cushion had been placed perfectly on her seat.

Bonnie proudly announced, "Daddy got this ready for you!"

Nora looked over at Xander. He was casually flipping through a newly issued business magazine. Hearing Bonnie, he briefly glanced up, gave a slight nod, and returned to his reading.

Nora was genuinely astonished. How could a man be this meticulously thoughtful?

Bonnie chimed in again, "I went to the supermarket with Daddy yesterday and—"

Before she could finish, Xander shot her a sharp look and ordered coldly, "Eat your breakfast. Don't make Nora late for work."

Bonnie pouted her lips, looking disgruntled as she climbed back into her chair. Daddy was so annoying. He had prepared everything way in advance, but now he wouldn't even let her brag about it.

Nora let out a light laugh, instantly shattering the slight tension. "Thank you, both of you."

Xander offered a brief glance but didn't say a word.
