Annabel soaked in Nora's words, her eyes overflowing with sheer anticipation.
"That's wonderful."
Nora stayed and chatted with her for a few more minutes, handed off the monitoring schedule to the attending doctors, and then quietly slipped out of the room.
She spent the rest of the afternoon buried in her cubicle compiling the newly acquired data, working right up until it was time to clock out.
Just as Nora grabbed her bag and experimental reports to leave, her phone abruptly shattered the silence. Glancing down, she saw Finnegan's name flashing on the screen.
Their last encounter had ended disastrously, but the collaboration was still technically active. After a brief hesitation, Nora answered the call.
To her surprise, Finnegan had completely abandoned his usual domineering tone. He sounded remarkably subdued and even offered a proactive apology. "Nora, I was too heavy-handed with the project clauses last time. I didn't take your perspective into account, and I apologize. I give you my word, this will be the only project we collaborate on. There won't be any further entanglements."
Nora paused, her expression remaining perfectly blank. "Understood. Is there anything else, Mr. Fletcher?"
Her icy detachment grated on Finnegan's nerves. He pinched the bridge of his nose to stifle his irritation, forcing his voice to stay level. "I heard the latest clinical data is out. Have you compiled it? I'm waiting in the conference room. I want to see the phased results."
Since the project hadn't officially concluded and it was directly tied to the Fletcher family's backing, Nora had no professional ground to refuse. Giving a brief hum of agreement, she grabbed the files and headed over to the Fletcher Corporation.
Pushing open the office door, she found Finnegan seated at his desk, waiting. Nora walked over slowly and dropped the folder onto the mahogany surface. "This is the latest timeline and progress report. Take a look."
Finnegan glanced up at her before lowering his eyes to sift through the data. When he reached the core metrics of the newest trials, a flash of genuine astonishment crossed his face, smoothing out the crease between his brows.
"This is exceptional work. It far exceeds my projections. How do you plan to push the treatment forward from here?"
