I Was His Wife, Then His Widow, Then No One's But My Own novel Chapter 347

Nora rested in her office for a while before pulling herself together to check on Annabel.

She tapped softly on the door, and Annabel's mother hurriedly opened it. The moment she saw Nora, her eyes brimmed with tears. "Dr. Newman, please come look at my daughter's chart. I don't understand any of this."

Nora stepped into the room. Annabel was tossing restlessly in a half-sleep, but the terrifying flush had faded from her cheeks, and her breathing had evened out into a steady rhythm.

Nora casually picked up the lab results from the bedside table. A second later, she froze entirely.

The cancer spread metrics, which had been aggressively trending upward, had shown a massive, undeniable drop. The aggressive proliferation of Annabel's cancer cells had visibly decelerated.

This was the first monumental, breakthrough milestone they had achieved since the clinical trial began. Nora's eyes went wide, and a violent tremor ran through her fingers.

The spread had actually slowed down...

Nora snapped her head toward Annabel's parents, her voice trembling with barely contained elation. "Don't worry anymore. Annabel's vitals are completely stable, and the medication is working. The cancer cell spread is actively being suppressed. It's decelerating far faster than we ever anticipated. This is better than our wildest expectations!"

She had walked in just hoping they had managed the fever. She never imagined they had struck a medical goldmine.

She wanted to grab a megaphone and broadcast the news to the entire institute.

Upon hearing the news, Annabel's parents shook uncontrollably, fresh tears pouring down their faces. Even Gareth, a man usually made of stone, instantly lost the battle with his tears. His legs gave out beneath him, and he collapsed in relief, pleading and sobbing his gratitude.
