I Was His Wife, Then His Widow, Then No One's But My Own novel Chapter 380

Nora's eyes grew sharp and clear. "I do, but I need solid proof."

Zelda patted her shoulder and stood up. "Xavier has already had someone contact the platform administrators. Felix Ford is tracking the data origins—he's much faster with computers than Xavier. Felix might not be the most eloquent speaker, but he spent a solid twenty minutes in the lab this morning tearing those internet trolls a new one!"

Nora pictured the scene and couldn't help but let out a genuine laugh.

Seeing her smile, Zelda pulled a box of chocolates from her drawer and pressed it into Nora's hands. "Alright, have something sweet to calm your nerves. Don't worry about work today. I'm taking you out for a nice lunch at noon."

Nora looked down at the box of chocolates, gripping it tightly as she spoke in a soft voice. "Thank you, Zelda."

Zelda waved off the thanks, sitting back at her desk and sliding her glasses on, instantly returning to her crisp, professional demeanor.

Stepping out into the hallway, Nora unwrapped a piece of chocolate and popped it into her mouth.

As the rich sweetness melted on her tongue, she pulled out her phone and texted Xander. "Sorry for making you come all the way out here for nothing today. I want to investigate the evidence myself, but I won't hesitate to ask when I need your tech support."

Less than ten seconds later, a reply chimed in. "Alright. Anytime."

Nora exhaled a long breath. When she looked up again, her gaze had hardened with determination.

Meanwhile, in his office, Finnegan ran a hand through his hair, racking his brain.

What did Nora's final words mean? Did she already suspect his true identity? That was impossible. He had hidden it flawlessly—even his grandfather hadn't noticed a thing. How could Nora possibly figure it out?

Yet, every time Finnegan recalled the chilling indifference in her eyes, a shiver of dread crept down his spine.
