Amos turned and pulled the woman into his arms.
“Ivy.”
Ivy Chandler patted his shoulder.
“Aaron was ruthless this time. Evan was his former brother-in-law, yet he still went after him that viciously?”
The main conflict tonight had been with Litt.
But Aaron’s men had been involved too.
There was no question that Aaron had intended to crush Amos completely.
It had been the same when they went after Evan last time.
Aaron hadn’t known Evan was involved this time. His men had gone after Amos without holding back, and Evan had been caught in the attack again.
Still, seeing Evan return in such terrible condition twice in a row made one thing clear.
Aaron truly was ruthless.
“He probably didn’t know Evan was there this time,” Amos said.
“I meant last time.”
If Aaron’s men had not injured Evan so severely before, he probably would not have ended up in such critical condition again tonight.
Last time, Aaron’s men had genuinely intended to kill him.
And this time, Evan’s previous injuries had not even fully healed.
Had Aaron not been so merciless before, Evan would not have been hurt this badly now.
Aaron truly had been ruthless.
Even knowing Evan was once his brother-in-law, he had still wanted him dead.
“It made perfect sense for Aaron to want Evan dead back then,” Amos said.
At the time, Stella had looked at Evan with nothing but hatred.
Their own conflict had not yet ended.
Aaron was not the only one who wanted Evan dead.
As far as Amos could tell, Stella probably had too.
“That’s why you were right back then,” Amos added. “Aaron is vicious. Nothing good would’ve come from being with him.”
Ivy fell silent.
After a moment, she looked at him in disbelief.
“Do you deliberately bring up the one thing I don’t want to talk about?”
Why did he have to mention the past now?
Did he really think that was a safe topic?
No wonder Aaron had spent all these years wanting to tear him apart.
