Chapter 818
“This is…”
This was what?
Jennifer did not even know how to finish the sentence.
It was unbelievable.
“Does Yara know who your brother really is?”
“I don’t know.”
Ever since hearing the news, Stella had been completely stunned.
She still had not fully processed it.
“Why does this feel like it’s not that simple?” Jennifer asked.
Stella said nothing.
“It isn’t just your brother. Felix and Evan too. None of this feels simple.”
Jennifer was genuinely worried for Stella.
She had thought returning to Eirden would mean the end of everything.
But looking at things now…
This did not feel like an ending at all.
It felt more complicated than ever.
Evan had run without divorcing Stella.
Felix, who should have been standing beside her, had helped Summer instead.
And worst of all, Stella’s own brother was now involved with Evan’s sister.
“This whole thing is a mess,” Jennifer said.
She wanted to sort it out, but she did not even know where to begin.
Everything was tangled together.
“Exactly,” Stella said.
Jennifer was not the only one who felt overwhelmed.
Stella was just as lost.
Jennifer had thought her own situation was already frustrating enough.
But looking at Stella now…
Even as the daughter of the powerful Hogarth family, Stella seemed to have even more to deal with.
“So what now?” Jennifer asked. “You can’t exactly run away, can you?”
Whenever Jennifer faced a mess like this, her first instinct was to leave.
But Stella…
“Where would I even go?”
“That’s true,” Jennifer said. “Your brother dating someone is not exactly your business.”
If it had been anyone else, there would have been no need to ask.
But it was Evan’s sister.
That was what made it feel so wrong.
“Still, I don’t think this is simple,” Jennifer said. “Especially Felix’s situation isn’t simple either.”
She had not seen any of it herself.
But whether she looked at each issue separately or all of them together, something felt off.
“I feel the same way,” Stella said quietly. “There has to be something I don’t know yet.”
And somehow, she had been pulled into it.
What she found hardest to accept was that the people who had drawn her in were Felix and her own brother.
“So Aaron really told you to trust Felix?” Jennifer asked.
“Yeah.”
Jennifer did not know what to say after that.
Trust Felix?
How was Stella supposed to do that when he had helped Summer?
“Honestly, I don’t even know what to tell you anymore,” Jennifer said at last. “Just be careful.”
