Chapter 903

General Litt?

“Who is that?”

The name sounded vaguely familiar, but Evan could not immediately place it.

Even so, merely hearing it carried an unmistakable weight.

“General Litt of Freden,” Felix said. “You’ve never heard of him?”

Evan fell silent.

The moment Felix mentioned Freden, recognition struck.

“You mean him?”

“Yes.”

“What would he want with Summer?”

Evan did not believe it.

Felix had to be bluffing.

General Litt was one of the most powerful men in Freden.

Summer was nobody by comparison.

With her limited abilities and background, there was no reason their paths should ever have crossed.

They belonged to entirely different worlds.

So when Felix claimed there was a connection between them, Evan found it impossible to believe.

“I don’t know why,” Felix said. “He’s simply been demanding that I hand her over.”

Felix genuinely did not know the reason.

When General Litt had first demanded Summer so forcefully, Felix had been surprised too.

He had sent people to investigate, but they still had not uncovered anything.

Still, if a man like Litt was personally demanding Summer, she clearly held some unusual importance to him.

Because of how determined Litt had been, Felix and Aaron had originally planned to use Summer to negotiate for something they needed.

Instead, everything had fallen apart.

Thinking of the furious call he had received from Litt the day before made Felix’s temples throb again.

Evan gave a cold laugh.

“So you are lying to me.”

Felix could not even give him a proper reason why General Litt wanted Summer.

And now he expected Evan to believe such an absurd story?

“I’m not lying,” Felix said sharply. “Stella has to stay with me now.”

“If what you’re saying is true, then I can protect her just as well.”

Evan had no interest in hearing anything more.

He ended the call.

Felix sat aboard the plane, listening to the silence after the disconnect.

His breathing turned harsh.

“Send people after them immediately.”

Damn Evan.

He had secretly placed someone beside Stella long ago.

They had been careless.

They should have noticed Seymour sooner.

Then again, perhaps they had underestimated Evan from the start

After seeing how thoroughly he had been suppressed in Harbor City, they had assumed he no longer possessed that kind of reach.

They had been wrong.

Ever since returning to Seaborne, Evan had become like a rabid dog finally let off its leash.

No une could control him atrymore.

Felix pinched the bridge of hisnose, trying to ease the pressure building behind his eyes.

After taking Stella, Seymour avoided the highway entirely and drove along the back roads.
