Leon’s tone hardened.
He knew Stella was not the kind of person who made empty threats.
If she said she would do something, she would follow through.
Thinking of how ruthlessly she had gone after the Wright family made his chest tighten.
He did not doubt for a second that she would turn that same ruthlessness on Monique.
“I’m not a patient person,” Stella said. “I’m not going to drag this out with you. How about I give you one day to decide?”
“What are you planning to do?”
“Since you were kind enough to call me yourself, I don’t need to make my people go through all the trouble of breaking Jennifer out of that villa. It would only create an ugly scene.”
Jennifer had told her Leon had stationed a large number of men there.
Whether Stella’s people tried to sneak her out or take her by force, it would be difficult.
And Jennifer was pregnant.
She did not want the baby, but if a fight broke out during the escape, Jennifer could still get hurt.
“So release her yourself,” Stella said.
Leon had originally called to negotiate with Stella.
Instead, she was the one making demands.
“You know that’s impossible,” Leon answered without hesitation.
He had never considered letting Jennifer go.
He did not want her to leave him.
“Don’t answer so quickly. Think it over carefully. Monique is in my hands, after all.”
Impossible?
Perfect.
Stella wanted to use this opportunity to find out exactly what Monique meant to Leon.
“You have one day. If Jennifer isn’t free by then, you’ll be collecting Monique’s body.”
Stella’s voice was extraordinarily gentle.
But beneath that softness lay unmistakable danger.
Leon’s breath caught in his throat.
“Twenty-four hours. Take your time thinking.”
With that, Stella ended the call.
Leon stared at the disconnected screen, his heart pounding violently.
Even his head had begun to ache.
