of a rogue wolf, I quickly realized that there wasn’t a damn thing worthwhile underneath here, but old candy wrappers and pop cans that had fallen from above.
Letting out the breath I had been holding, I shook my head, realizing that I must have been paranoid and imagining things, and I honestly couldn’t blame myself, especially with everything I had been through lately. Seeing that there clearly was nothing there, I moved to turn around, just as the song to our dance routine ended, making everything go completely silent before a loud bang came from directly behind me, making me practically jump out of my shoes.
For a moment, I stood frozen, once again too afraid to turn around, but when nothing followed the bang, I finally did turn to face whatever had made the sound. Closing my eyes, I inhaled a long deep breath, trying to calm my damn nerves, before I finally opened my eyes when the next song began to play, telling me that I needed to get a move on it. I knew I had to be back on the field before this song came to an end if I wanted to be there in time to watch Jessica and her mother go down.
But as I turned to make my way out of the bleachers, I found myself being abruptly pulled back, as someone placed their arms around me, putting their hand over my mouth, before I could even get a scream out for help.
