Chapter 744

Chapter 744

Yale could barely wrap his mind around the bombshell that CUAP had actually come from Maggie’s hard work and talent.

Heavy shock rolled through his entire body, and a tight, suffocating feeling settled deep within his chest.

It took him quite a long while before he finally managed to pull himself back to the present moment.

His eyes locked onto Johnny. His voice came out rough and strained as he struggled to form each word.

“So you’re laying all of this out to tell me that Maggie earned her spot inside Cole Corporation purely through her own skill and talent, and it wasn’t some special favor or back-door deal like I had always assumed?”

The surrounding crowd fell completely silent the second he finished speaking. Every guest leaned in, eager to hear Johnny’s reply.

“Hardly,” Johnny answered with a sharp, sarcastic curve to his mouth. “A little while ago, you were asking whether Maggie had gotten revenge on Julia by blocking three big opportunities: her position at Cole Corporation, becoming Nolan’s student, and landing Dr. Mercer as her mentor tonight. Remember?

“I don’t know all the fine details about what went down with Dr. Mercer this evening. Maggie and I found out alongside everyone else in this ballroom that Dr. Mercer wanted to take Maggie on as his new student.

“Now for the other two incidents.”

Johnny paused for a beat.

He gave both Yale and Julia a quick, pointed glance before turning his attention toward every guest packed into the grand ballroom. A knowing smirk tugged at the corner of his lips.

“I’m guessing most of you folks have heard that Cole Corporation actually has two founding partners, haven’t you?”

The instant those words left his mouth, every single person in attendance instantly grasped what Johnny was revealing.

Yale and Rex’s eyes blew wide open in utter disbelief. They stared straight at Johnny, completely stunned by this earth-shattering revelation.

“That… that cannot possibly be real.”

Yves’ eyes bulged out like saucers. The shocking news knocked the wind right out of him.

“Holy hell…”

Janice’s head shot sharply upward. Her level of disbelief outstripped nearly everyone else in the room.

She was so caught up in the shock washing over her that she never even noticed her wine glass slipping out of her grip and crashing down onto the thick carpet beneath her feet.
