Chapter 750
Sophia and the others froze on the spot.
“What court suftmons?”
Julia snapped out of her dazed trance and hurried over to join them.
The legal papers showed that Jamison Group had filed suit against their family-owned tech firm, on grounds of trade secret misappropriation.
Julia’s brows drew tight in confusion.
As far as she knew, Brown Tech had never had any business dealings with Jamison Group. There was no logical reason for this sudden lawsuit, especially one centered on stolen trade secrets.
Still, that puzzle was not their most urgent problem right now.
Janice pointed sharply at the damage-claim figures printed inside the complaint, her face cold and hard.
“Look right here.”
Julia leaned in to read. Before she could speak, Sophia caught sight of the number first, and her features drained of all color.

exact same line, and she spotted an even worse clause buried further down the document.
They are also seeking punitive damages, multiplied by five times.”
That meant Jamison Group was demanding a total of two and a half billion dollars in compensation..
Now she fully understood why her parents’ faces had twisted into such horror just moments earlier.
Grandmas paled once they heard the staggering sum.
Sophia grew frantic, her voice rising with panic.
“What gives them the right to do this? They cannot just drag us into court out of thin air! Our companies have never crossed paths!”
In normal circumstances, that would hold true. But Jamison Group would never bring such heavy-hitting litigation unless they held real supporting evidence.
Chaos erupted inside the grand Brown residence.
Logan turned toward Julia, his voice heavy with helplessness.
“Julia… maybe you ought to reach out to Franklin.”

hout Logan suggesting it. Franklin had already crossed her mind. He possessed far-reaching sources and insider ormation they could never hope to access.
Yet a flicker of doubt lingered in her mind.
Something seemed to dawn on Logan all at once. He hesitated before asking carefully
“Has Franklin gotten in touch with you since the gala ended?”
Julia shook her head.
Logan fell quiet, weighed down by worry.
When Sophia learned Franklin had not sent a single message all night long, her anxiety spiked to new heights.
“Does this mean… is he breaking things off with Julia because of everything that went down tonight?”
“He should not,” Janice cut her off in a calm, flat tone. “Franklin has known all about these messy affairs from the very start.”
Sophia’s anxiety eased instantly, hope flaring bright inside her chest.
“You are right! So then what do we-”
Janice paid no more attention to Sophia’s rambling and fixed her eyes on Julia.

however you think best.”
She knew for a fact Franklin had always been fully aware of all the old feuds between the Greens, the Browns and the Millers.
If those past conflicts had never bothered him before, there was no reason they would start bothering him now.
Even so, Franklin’s distant, unreadable behavior throughout the evening gnawed at her, filling her with quiet unease.
