Estelle was annoyed, especially at Laila. She didn’t want to see her at all.

But since they had come, refusing to meet would only make things worse.

“Hmph! Bring them in. Take them to the small sitting room. I’ll see them after dinner.”

The Beta left to receive them and noticed they had brought boxes with them. However, they didn’t look like gifts. “What did you bring, Your Highness?” he asked.

Morgana almost said “account books,” but Laila spoke first. “They’re just some old manuscripts. We need Estelle to review them.”

The Beta’s eyes lit up. Manuscripts? Could it be Shane’s work?

He immediately served tea and snacks, then went to report.

“Manuscripts? Shane’s?” Estelle asked slowly.

“Not sure. She didn’t say, so I didn’t ask,” the Beta replied.

Jenna frowned. “Fine. Forget her. Mother, why are Laila and Morgana really here?”

Estelle smiled faintly. She set down her knife and fork without a trace of concern, then wiped her mouth before speaking. “Go and see, and we’ll know.”

She walked out, and Jenna followed.

In the small sitting room, Estelle immediately saw several boxes on the floor. Her eyes narrowed.

She recognized them instantly. Cloria’s account books were always sent to her for review. It was done once every year with a full set of annual records, and each time, they would be packed into a single box.

And now, there were six boxes on the floor. It was obvious that all the income and expenses from these years were contained here.

Cloria’s was said to belong to Jenna, but in truth, it was hers.

Jenna blurted out, “Those are Cloria’s account books!”

Laila stood with a polite smile. “Good evening, Estelle, Jenna.”

Jenna’s face darkened. “Stop smiling. What are you here for?”

“Jenna, where are your manners?” Estelle said calmly.

Jenna sat down reluctantly, glancing at the boxes. Her expression shifted for a second, but she quickly recovered.

“What is this, Morgana?” She pointed to the boxes on the floor.

She didn’t ask Laila because only a fool would ask her. Naturally, Jenna chose the softer target to bully.

Laila wouldn’t let Morgana answer, so she said before her. “You see, yesterday, I heard from Princess Morgana that she and you jointly opened a jewelry store. When I looked into it further, I realized it was Cloria’s. What a coincidence. Shane once even commissioned a bracelet there for me.”

Her face was full of warmth, and there wasn’t the slightest edge in her eyes. It was as though she hadn’t come to audit the accounts

at all.

Having crossed hands with her two or three times before, Estelle naturally didn’t dare to be careless.

She turned to Jenna. “Cloria’s is the same store you told me you and Princess Morgana co–owned, correct?”

“Yes, Mother,” Jenna replied.

Estelle gave a quiet “mm,” then said, “Didn’t you say before that the business wasn’t doing well?”

Jenna immediately understood and began pouring out complaints. “Exactly. It’s been open for years and never made a profit. It’s been running at a loss the whole time. By the end of the year, we had to run discounts just to avoid covering rent and wages out of pocket.

“I truly feel ashamed toward Princess Morgana and you, Mother. She trusted us and invested, agreeing to co–found Cloria’s with me. In the end, not only did we fail to earn her any profit, but we’ve only made losses all along.”
