Chapter 293 Carrying Victoria in Her Jaws
Third–person POV:
But there was no way he could pretend he hadn’t seen him.
Even with his head deliberately lowered, the corner of his eye still caught Samuel.
He could feel the mockery in his gaze.
Shame and rage choked him. He almost wished he could die on the spot.

The only thing he was grateful for right now was that Laila hadn’t bonded with him as her mate. Otherwise… he really might have
wanted to die.
The moment he was clear of the royal palace, Holt shifted into wolf form and tore back to his den in a fury.
Maris was startled to see him back so soon. But the moment he shifted into human form and she caught the dark, simmering rage in his eyes, she took an involuntary step back. “What are you doing?”
Holt strode forward and seized her wrist. “Come on. You’re going with me to Blackrock Pack.”
Maris yanked her hand free with force. “No.”
Holt’s expression turned dangerous. “You’re not going? Then I’ll tie you up and take you there myself. Take your pick–you can walk there yourself, or I can strip you to your underclothes and drag you barefoot through the streets to Blackrock Pack to apologize.”
“You wouldn’t dare!” Maris was furious–and beneath the fury, deeply wounded. “I said one thing! What unforgivable crime did I commit that I have to crawl over there and apologize?
Holt ground his teeth. “You know exactly what you’ve done. The things you’ve done–for them, an apology isn’t enough. Killing you wouldn’t be enough.”
His eyes flicked to the servants standing nearby. He roared, “Out!”
The servants scrambled out of the room.
Maris stared at him, her eyes rimmed red. “Holt, do you really hate me this much now? If you hate me so much, why did you ever say you loved me? Why did you make me your Luna?”
Holt was already at the breaking point,
He snapped, his voice raw, “I was a fool. I was blind! I thought you were everything you said you were–upright, brave, principled- but you’re not!”
Maris clapped her hands over her ears. “Stop! You’re the one who miscalculated!”
“You thought Laila was just an omega, that she’d have no choice but to accept being pushed aside. That’s why you fought so hard to become my Luna. But Laila is an Alpha. She didn’t need you, and she walked away. Now you regret it.”
“When you said you loved me, you were just chasing something new. You have no conscience, Holt. You’re fickle, you’re faithless, and I was a fool to trust you.”

Holt’s face went ashen. For a moment, it was like she’d hit him square in the chest.

He straightened, his voice turning cold. “Enough. I’m done discussing any of this with you. But today, you are coming with me to Blackrock Pack. And the commoner whose hand was severed a few days ago–you’re going to compensate him, in coin. Otherwise, I’ll personally hand you over to the Justice Department.”
“That’s a lie. I never cut off anyone’s hand!” Then, the realization hit her. “Was it Victoria? Did she tell you it was me?”
Holt snapped, “Don’t make this worse, Maris. The man who threw dung at our gates a few days ago–you caught him, and you cut off his hand. He’s already filed a complaint with the Justice Department! In all of Ironclaw Pack, who else but you would do something so brutal?”
Maris’s face turned a livid shade. “It was not me. I haven’t even left the courtyard in days. If you don’t believe me, ask the butler. Ask anyone who’s been around me.”
Then, abruptly, the rage left her voice. She looked at him, cold and steady. “Why don’t you go ask Victoria? Whether she was the one who gave the order.”
Holt threw up a hand, dismissing the idea instantly. “Impossible. Victoria would never do something like that.”
Maris’s heart turned to ice. “So in your eyes, I’m the only one capable of cruelty, while Victoria is some kind of angel? Holt–oh, Holt -you said it yourself, you’re blind.”
Holt refused to believe Victoria would have ordered something like that. He doubled down. “This isn’t your first time. We both know exactly what you’re capable of.”
Maris had reached her limit.
Without warning, she shifted into her wolf form and bolted out of the den. A few minutes later, she came charging back–with Victoria clamped in her jaws.
Victoria hadn’t even had time to shift.
She was only a Gamma.
