Chapter 339: Husband and wife!.

Alexander’s POV

The Blackwood Mansion field had never looked this beautiful.

White roses lined both sides of the aisle, their fragrance carried gently by the morning breeze. Crystal lanterns hung beneath the white floral arches, catching the sunlight and scattering tiny reflections across the marble pathway.

Rows of ivory chairs stretched neatly across the vast lawn, while elegant white drapes danced gently with the wind.

The same mansion where our marriage was arranged...

Had now become the place where I would finally give Alicia the wedding she truly deserved.

I stood beneath the flower-covered altar, adjusting the sleeve of my black suit for what felt like the hundredth time.

"You’re making me nervous just looking at you."

Raphael’s amused voice came from beside me.

I glanced at him.

"I didn’t know Chairman Blackwood could actually get nervous."

"I’m not."

He laughed.

"Sure."

"You’ve only checked your watch six times in the last two minutes."

Michael, standing on my other side, chuckled softly.

"I don’t think I’ve ever seen him like this."

I ignored both of them.

My attention drifted across the guests instead.

Uncle Steve sat in the front row, a gentle smile resting on his face.

Beside him was Aunt Angela.

She quietly looked around before her gaze settled on me.

For the first time in years...

There was no disapproval in her eyes.

Only quiet acceptance.

To be honest, I hadn’t even expected her to come.

Uncle Steve must have told her about the wedding.

Because I certainly hadn’t.

Not far away sat Margaret and Veronica, Alicia’s family from Rosewood Town.

While Anna stood opposite us wearing matching bridesmaids dresses with Sophie and Ariana—the two people who had secretly helped me prepare everything.

Seeing all of them here eased something inside me.

Because I knew...

This wedding wasn’t important to only me.

It mattered to everyone who loved Alicia.

Maria stood quietly toward the back.

Every few seconds, she discreetly wiped the corners of her eyes.

Even she couldn’t hide her emotions today.

Just then, the melody changed.

The soft piano gradually blended into the gentle sound of violins.

One by one, the conversations faded.

The guests slowly rose to their feet.

Every pair of eyes turned toward the entrance.

My heartbeat quickened.

Raphael smiled knowingly before taking a step back.

"It’s time."

Everything around me disappeared.

The music.

The breeze.

The guests.

Even my own breathing.

Then...

She appeared.

Alicia.

Standing at the end of the flower-lined aisle with Herbert gently holding her arm.

For a moment...

I forgot how to breathe.

The morning sunlight wrapped around her like a soft golden veil.

Her white gown embraced her figure perfectly before flowing elegantly to the ground, every delicate diamond embroidered along the neckline shimmering beneath the sunlight.

The long veil rested gracefully behind her.

She looked...

Beautiful.

No.

Beautiful wasn’t enough.

She was breathtaking.

I couldn’t hear the music anymore.

I couldn’t hear the guests.

There was only her.

She slowly lifted her eyes.

Across the distance...

Our gazes met.

I watched the surprise in her eyes slowly melt into warmth.

Then...

She smiled.

That single smile nearly shattered every bit of composure I had spent the morning trying to maintain.

I couldn’t stop myself from smiling back.

At that moment...

I realized something.

Four years ago...

I had watched Alicia walk toward me because Nana wished it.

Today...

She was walking toward me because she had chosen me.

A tiny figure suddenly skipped onto the aisle.

Aimy.

Dressed in a little white dress with tiny white flowers woven into her hair.

She held a small basket with both hands, carefully scattering flower petals exactly as she was taught just this morning.

Every few steps she looked proudly toward the guests before tossing another handful.

Soft laughter spread across the field.

Even I couldn’t help chuckling.

When she finally reached me, she immediately stretched out both little arms.

"Daddy!"

More laughter echoed among the guests.

I bent down and lifted her into my arms.

"You did so well."

She wrapped her little arms around my neck before whispering proudly,

"I didn’t drop the flowers."

A smile spread across my face.

She looked so proud of herself.

"You were perfect."

I kissed her forehead before gently setting her beside Raphael.

"Stay here with Uncle Raphael for a little while."

She nodded obediently.

Then...

I looked up once more.

Alicia had reached the middle of the aisle.

Every step she took felt like a dream.

Her eyes already shimmered with unshed tears.

Mine probably weren’t much better.

I watched as the people who loved her looked on with nothing but pride and happiness.

When she finally stopped before me...

Neither of us spoke.

We simply looked at one another.

Four years.

So much pain.

So many misunderstandings.

Yet somehow...

We had still found our way back.

Herbert met my gaze before gently placing Alicia’s hand into mine.

Our eyes met.

He didn’t say a single word.

He didn’t have to.

In that brief exchange, I saw everything.

Trust.

Gratitude.

Relief.

And the silent request every father makes when placing his daughter’s hand into another man’s.

’Take care of her.’
