The moment the car pulled away from the mansion, the noise of the guests slowly faded behind us.
Alicia and I were finally alone.
I turned toward her.
She was still staring at the ring on her finger, a faint smile playing on her lips.
"So that’s why you insisted on redesigning the ring," she said quietly before looking up at me with a smile.
"Mm," I answered.
"How did I not even see this coming?"
I chuckled.
Then she added, "I can’t believe Sophie and Ariana helped you out."
"I guess they’re just willing to do anything that will make you happy," I said quietly. "Even if it means working with the person who once hurt you."
Her smile faded slightly as she leaned against my shoulder.
"Let’s not talk about that anymore."
There was a brief silence before she spoke again.
"I can’t believe we actually had a wedding."
"This time, by choice," I added.
She reached for my hand and intertwined our fingers.
"By choice."
I brought her hand to my lips and kissed her ring.
Neither of us said anything after that.
We didn’t need to.
We simply sat there, holding hands as the car carried us toward the reception.
Alicia’s POV
The car slowed as we approached the reception hall, and I instinctively looked through the window.
For a moment, I simply stared.
The entire venue looked breathtaking.
It was a grand venue that belonged to the Blackwood family, and even among the elites, only a few people had access to it.
The grand entrance was framed with towering arrangements of white roses and soft greenery, while warm lights illuminated the pathway leading toward the main doors. Large crystal chandeliers could already be seen glowing through the tall glass windows, casting a warm golden light across the elegant interior.
Everything looked expensive without being excessive.
Classic.
Timeless.
Elegant.
The moment the car stopped, I could already see the crowd gathered outside.
Reporters stood behind the barriers, cameras flashing continuously as security kept them at a distance. Several familiar faces from Velaridge City’s elite circle were arriving in designer dresses and three-piece suits, while others had already gathered around the entrance, clearly waiting for our arrival.
My heart began beating faster.
I knew our wedding would attract attention.
But seeing the number of people gathered here made it feel real all over again.
Alexander stepped out first before walking around to my side.
He opened the door and extended his hand toward me.
I placed mine in his and carefully stepped out of the car.
The moment we appeared together, the flashes became almost blinding.
"Chairman Blackwood!"
"Mrs. Blackwood!"
"Over here!"
"One picture, please!"
The voices came from every direction.
I instinctively moved closer to Alexander, and his arm immediately settled around my waist.
He leaned slightly toward me.
"Are you alright?"
I nodded.
"Yes."
But my heart was still racing.
Not because I was afraid.
Not anymore.
It was simply overwhelming to realize that this was actually happening.
Four years ago, I had walked into a marriage without even knowing how it would turn out.
Today, I was standing beside the same man as his wife once again, surrounded by the people who had come to celebrate our marriage.
Except this time...
We chose it ourselves.
Alexander guided me toward the entrance as security cleared the way for us.
The moment we stepped inside, I was even more amazed.
The reception hall had been transformed into something straight out of a dream.
Crystal chandeliers hung from the high ceiling, illuminating the entire room with a soft golden glow. Round tables covered in ivory linen were arranged neatly across the hall, each decorated with tall floral centerpieces, crystal candleholders, and delicate tableware.
White roses and subtle greenery decorated the walls, while enormous floral arrangements stood on either side of the stage.
I stopped for a moment.
My chest tightened.
"Beautiful, isn’t it?"
Alexander’s voice brought me back.
I looked at him and smiled.
"Very."
His eyes softened as he looked at me.
"I wanted you to have the wedding you deserved."
My smile widened.
"You did."
Before he could say anything else, several familiar guests approached us, congratulating us and welcoming us into the reception.
I recognized almost everyone.
Business executives.
Influential families.
Celebrities.
Old friends of the Blackwood family.
People I had once only seen from a distance at company events.
And now they were all here for us.
For our marriage.
For our new beginning.
As we continued farther into the hall, I glanced around once more.
