Ashley knew some of the vehicles were bugged with cameras. She was the one who had told Rum to install them and Gin to activate the feeds if it ever came to that.
She had to admit, though, that a chase was the last thing she wanted.
All she needed was the information. She could’ve thought of a replacement for her proposal if the chase didn’t happen.
But alas...
Here she was.
Ashley clenched her teeth, glancing to the side. As she ascended the ramp, she got a clearer view of the chaos unfolding on the highway.
Getting caught up in that mess wasn’t ideal.
Shifting her gaze ahead, her eyes landed on the cars at the front.
"Gin," she whispered. "Still watching?"
"Yes!" Gin shouted through her earpiece. "What do you need, Boss?"
"Did you do what I told you just now?" she asked breathlessly. "Are we live?"
Gin raised his brows, keeping his attention on the drone footage above the highway.
Currently, Gin was in the chopper hovering above the city to maintain the signal, with Khan piloting it from a safe distance.
"I’ve just connected it," Gin replied. "Boss, are you hungry for fame? We’re not making a movie here!"
"Not a movie... yep." Ashley made a sharp turn.
Without hesitation, she accelerated, building momentum as she headed straight for the ramp.
Unlike everyone watching who held their breath, Ashley remained eerily calm as the motorcycle launched into the air.
All she needed to do now was land properly.
And she would.
She had to.
Little did she know, they didn’t even need the additional drone shot. The motorcycle she had gotten her hands on happened to be one of the vehicles Rum had bugged with a camera.
THUD!
Ashley’s motorcycle slammed onto the roof of a moving vehicle, bouncing from the impact and leaving a large dent behind.
She gripped the handlebars tightly, fighting to maintain control.
VROOM!
Fortunately, she managed to steady the bike. She twisted the throttle, sending the motorcycle surging forward.
HONK!
Ashley glanced toward the other lane and caught Gustav staring at her, wide-eyed and slack-jawed. His window was down, leaving his horrified expression on full display.
Looking past him, she caught Lucian’s gaze.
He nodded at her, and she nodded back before whipping her attention forward.
*****
Scott swallowed hard as he glanced at his side mirror, catching sight of the motorcycle joining the party.
"What the— Is that one of our men?!" Marshal screamed when he saw the motorcycle revving behind them.
BANG! BANG!
Marshal immediately ducked when he peeked out and saw the rider aiming a gun at them.
His face twisted in horror, his mind racing even faster than the vehicle. His heart was pounding so violently that it hurt.
"I think I’m going to faint," he muttered, clutching his chest.
He peeked behind them again, panic written all over his wrinkled face.
It had already been several minutes since they entered the city, yet the car that had been tailing them was still there.
Not to mention another threat had practically dropped out of the sky!
But Marshal’s downward spiral was the least of Scott’s concerns.
Scott drove deeper into the city, veering off the main road and taking turn after turn through the narrowest alleys their vehicle could fit through.
The car crashed through empty stands outside closed establishments, leaving a trail of destruction everywhere they went.
Hah.
Scott laughed bitterly to himself.
I don’t know whether I should feel proud... or regretful.
After spending several minutes racing through the city, the complete absence of people told him Ashley had something to do with it.
Everyone knew what might happen tonight, and as much as possible, no one wanted anything to do with it.
The question was, how had Ashley convinced everyone in this place to cooperate?
This was their turf.
Turning it upside down would require far more than money.
"Whatever it was..." Scott breathed.
He pulled out his gun and rolled down the window. The moment his arm was outside, he opened fire behind them.
BANG!
BANG!
