Noelle went back to her campus dorm. When she returned to her dorm room, both Mia and Grace were there. The latter was the first to speak.
"Wow! Looks like someone made a lot of progress in their relationship after going home!"
Noelle's face warmed up in an instant. She smiled and replied, "The both of you were worried, right? Well, there's no need to worry anymore."
Mia smiled. "So, are you officially together as a couple now?"
Noelle nodded. Grace started clapping. "That's amazing! Congratulations! You guys are finally together!"
"I'll treat both of you to a meal once I'm free. But it's not gonna be the next few days. I've got some stuff to deal with," Noelle said, smiling.
Mia replied, "We've heard. The comments online are getting out of line.
"They're just jealous of how smart and capable you are. That's why they're accusing you of getting the position of chief engineer in Maple Enterprise through some sort of backdoor."
Grace also voiced her frustration on Noelle's behalf. "Yeah, you earned it yourself! If you really wanted to ride on Cedric's coattails, you would've made it big a long time ago."
Noelle replied, "Someone is orchestrating the entire thing in an attempt to slander me. They're also trying to snatch up the AI project's market share."
Mia asked, "Is it Xenia's mother?"
Noelle nodded. "That's right."
She then recounted what had happened at the graveyard. "Xenia's mother isn't going to back down easily. All we're doing now is just waiting to see how long she can stay hidden before eventually revealing herself."
Mia replied, "It's no wonder Laura joined up with PZ Group. There's definitely something wrong with that company."
Noelle turned to Mia and said, "That company is truly suspicious. Do you have any companies that are partnered up with PZ Group? If you do, it's probably best to terminate any and all ties with them as soon as possible."
A contract for just a single year. Meanwhile, PZ Group was set to run into trouble right after the new year. The length of the contract was clearly a trap.
Mia noticed Noelle's expression and asked, "Is it really that serious?"
Grace chimed in, "I don't really know much about investing, but I'm guessing that Noelle and Cedric are eventually going head-to-head with PZ Group. When that happens, they certainly won't be coming out on top. Mia, it would also mean that all of your investment will turn into losses."
Mia fell silent. Noelle also fell quiet as she realized that Grace's analysis made a lot of sense.
She then turned to Mia and said, "I suspect you're not the only person who signed that contract with high returns. Can you find out what other families have signed similar deals to yours?"
If they could locate even more victims, they would definitely be able to find a connection among them. There might still be a chance to recover the funds if they could expose PZ Group for all of its issues before they run away with the money.
Noelle wondered if Xenia's mother was working at PZ Group as a professional scammer.
