Outcast Queen: Her Return from Hell novel Chapter 221

"Pierce, we must investigate this thoroughly!" Silas Sterling practically vibrated with righteous indignation, looking as if he had suffered a massive injustice. "If it's exactly as you said and his death was faked, then there's a huge conspiracy behind this! Our family commands immense wealth and power. If someone is targeting us, the consequences will be unimaginable."

"Rest assured, Uncle Silas. I will get to the bottom of this," Pierce Sterling replied calmly. "Once I have the results, I'll inform you. Apologies for intruding so late in the night."

"No, no, Pierce, you're doing this for the family's safety," Silas replied, plastering a sycophantic smile on his face. "If you discover anything else, let me know immediately."

"Mm."

Pierce nodded, turned, and walked out of the villa. His figure quickly dissolved into the cover of night.

As the heavy doors clicked shut, the sycophantic smile vanished from Silas's face, instantly replaced by a look of venomous malice.

"It seems the brat is already onto me," he gritted his teeth. "I have to move the plan forward, or else once that lunatic Pierce sinks his teeth into this, it's over for me."

Thank God Sully Yates had called with a warning earlier, saying he noticed something off and evacuated the base ahead of time. Pierce probably showed up empty-handed and furious, deciding to unexpectedly crash the villa to shake the tree and force him into making a mistake.

"Hmph. Just a wet-behind-the-ears punk. He's still too green." Silas let out a cold scoff, his eyes filled with absolute disdain.

...

The night passed without incident.

By the time Phoenix Prescott woke up, the sun was already high in the sky.

She didn't go to the Prescott Group headquarters. Yolanda Young was holding down the fort anyway, and the two projects on hand specifically designated Phoenix as the lead. Those old fossils at the company didn't dare to breathe a word of complaint.

Just as she finished freshening up, Meredith Miller called.

"Phoenix, I'm already on the road with Master Padraig," the girl's voice was laced with reluctance. "This trip will take at least a week. Just thinking about being away from you for that long makes me not want to go."

Phoenix chuckled. "Silly girl. You have to get stronger to stand by my side, don't you?"

"Alright, I'm just whining. I promise I'll study hard and make you proud!" Meredith's tone shifted, regaining her firm determination. "Oh, by the way, Master Padraig mentioned that Nolan wants to fly over to see you. He wants to discuss a new piece he's composing."

Nolan?

Phoenix paused for a second before realization dawned.

The old gentleman was a piano maestro she had met online. Back then, Nolan had released a demo that received universal acclaim across the internet. Phoenix was the only one who sharply pointed out a few flaws, leaving Nolan utterly shocked. Over time, the two became close friends despite their age gap.

Nolan had considered taking her on as an apprentice, but to Phoenix, the piano was merely a stepping stone on her path of revenge.

Whether it was jewelry design or playing the piano, she had forced herself to master all the skills that high-society heiresses prided themselves on during those dark, suffocating four years. It was that crushing, desperate environment that had completely unlocked her potential.

"He's more than welcome to visit. But I'm swamped right now, so I probably won't have the energy to entertain him."
