Outcast Queen: Her Return from Hell novel Chapter 4

The Prescott Family.

As one of the elite, the Prescott Estate was easily one of the most magnificent mansions in Cloudhaven.-

The only property that could rival it belonged to Cloudhaven's number one family—the Sterling family's Brookview Estate.

Right now, Phoebe was dressed in an elegant white gown, her hair styled into a sophisticated updo that radiated the aura of a high-society heiress.

Warren and Vanessa Prescott fussed over her outfit, their eyes brimming with absolute pride and adoration for their daughter.

"Phoebe, Mr. Sterling will be here soon to propose, so you have to be on your best behavior. As long as we secure this marriage with the Sterling family, the Prescotts will rise to the very top," Warren said with a beaming smile.

He didn't know what stroke of luck they had hit today, but Pierce, who had fiercely rejected the arranged marriage before, suddenly called to say he was coming over to propose. Warren was over the moon.

"Honey, don't worry. Phoebe's looks and education are unmatched among all the socialite heiresses. There's no way Pierce won't be charmed by her." Vanessa had absolute faith in her daughter.

"Dad, Mom, I'll do my best." Phoebe offered a sweet smile, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.

The arranged marriage between the Prescotts and the Sterlings had been set long ago, but Pierce had always refused to honor it, leaving it in limbo.

Now that Pierce was suddenly coming to propose, did he finally notice her beauty and change his mind?

Yes, that had to be it.

She, Phoebe Prescott, was truly one of a kind.

"Sir!"

A servant hurried into the room.

"Are the Sterlings here?" Warren's eyes lit up as he eagerly asked.

"No!" The servant shook his head, his face extremely pale. "It's... it's..."

"It's what? Spit it out!" Warren demanded with a frown.

"The eldest daughter has returned."

"The eldest daughter?"

Warren froze for a second before letting out a cold scoff.

"Nonsense! Phoebe is right here!"

"No, it's... it's Phoenix..."

The moment that name dropped, Warren, Vanessa, and Phoebe all froze.

"Phoenix?"

Warren knitted his brows, suddenly realizing something, and sneered. "I remember now. Today is the day she gets out of prison."

"Why couldn't that jinx just die behind bars?" Vanessa snapped in frustration. "She couldn't come back earlier or later, she had to show up right when Phoebe is about to get engaged. Is she trying to ruin this?"

"That slap was for four years ago. You owed me."

Back then, she had begged Phoebe to turn herself in, but this vicious woman had slapped her instead.

Phoebe had then played the victim, weeping that she hadn't meant it and had only lashed out because she was terrified.

And the most pathetic part? Warren and Vanessa had believed her.

"Phoenix Prescott, you have a death wish!!" Vanessa shrieked, lunging forward with a raised hand to hit her.

Phoenix barely glanced at her before snatching Vanessa's wrist mid-air. "My dear mother, you're exactly the same as you were four years ago. Always ready to hit me for the sake of your precious adopted daughter, without ever caring about the truth."

"Phoenix, Phoebe has been thinking about you every day for the last four years! She was just trying to welcome you back, and you hit her? What gives you the right?!" Vanessa seethed, gritting her teeth.

"What gives me the right?"

Phoenix let out a cold laugh. "The right comes from the fact that I am the true daughter of the Prescott family, while she..."

Her gaze shifted to Phoebe, sharp and merciless. "...is just a fake who stole my life!!"

"Phoenix, if you know you're a daughter of this family, then you should know who makes the rules around here." Warren's voice was dark and threatening. "Let go of your mother right now."

"Father, you're the head of the household, so of course you make the rules," Phoenix replied breezily. "But are you sure you want to blame your own flesh and blood for the sake of a fraud?"

"Or should I go to the main estate right now and explain to Grandpa exactly how you sent his biological granddaughter to prison to cover up for a fake?"
