Looking at his strained expression, a vibrant smile suddenly bloomed on Phoenix's lips.
She reached out, grabbed his tie, and yanked him forcefully toward her. "If you can't hold back, then don't."
Those words were like a spell that shattered all remaining seals.
Pierce's eyes darkened instantly, his burning desire no longer concealed. Taking charge, he pressed her back against the wide sofa and captured her lips fiercely once more.
The prolonged, high-pressure exhaustion desperately demanded an ultimate release.
This time, Phoenix didn't retreat. She desired him just as intensely, willingly looping her arms around his shoulders to meet his torrential demands.
Outside the office, the staff was buried in their overtime work, and no one dared to disturb the peace of the CEO's office.
Separated only by a single door, the air inside the office still buzzed with lingering heat two hours of wild abandon later.
Her body pleasantly weak, Phoenix leaned against the sofa and shot Pierce an exasperated glare. "Pierce, did you plan this whole thing tonight?"
Pierce pulled her into his embrace, twirling a lock of her hair around his fingers. A deeply satisfied smile curved his lips. "What? Is Mrs. Sterling already having trouble keeping up?"
"Hah, care to go another round?" Phoenix challenged, raising an eyebrow.
Pierce paused and let out a dry cough to cover his awkwardness. "Ahem... we have a long road ahead of us. We should pace ourselves. I just didn't want to exhaust you."
"Excuses. You're just admitting defeat." Phoenix scoffed softly, pushing against his chest to stand up.
She quickly smoothed out her disheveled clothes, and her demeanor instantly shifted back to the icy authority of Astraea's leader. "It's about time. We should head out."
Hearing this, the lazy contentment in Pierce's eyes vanished, replaced by profound solemnity. "Are Eustace's deployments all set?"
"Yes." Phoenix nodded, her gaze fixed on the night sky beyond the floor-to-ceiling window. "Our people have secretly completely surrounded the Westside Estate. As long as we're fast enough, we can rescue Nathan tonight."
Pierce took a deep breath, his tone brokering no argument. "I'm going with you."
"Pierce, this is an agreement between Yara and me. There's no need for you to wade into this muddy water. Besides..." Phoenix frowned slightly. "If something happens to me tonight, Astraea..."
Before she could finish, a long finger gently pressed against her lips.
"That's exactly why I have to go." Pierce's gaze was resolute, every word ringing with conviction. "As long as I'm there, I absolutely will not allow anything to happen to you!"
He paused, adding with certainty, "As for the home front, with that man holding down the fort, his iron-fisted methods will ensure Astraea doesn't fall into chaos."
Phoenix froze slightly, a flash of surprise and brightness dancing in her eyes.
