Phoenix leaned back in her chair with absolute composure, her arms crossed as she calmly watched Warren radiating pure malice.
“Warren, what kind of mud are you going to sling at me now?”
A cold glint flashed in Warren's eyes. Instead of answering immediately, he picked up his phone, tapped the screen a few times, and cast a video directly onto the massive projector.
The board members exchanged entirely confused glances, their curiosity peaking as they looked up at the screen.
When the video loaded, it revealed a live stream of a woman violently sobbing. Nobody understood what kind of game Warren was trying to play.
“Gentlemen, please open your eyes and take a good look at the absolute social pariah sitting among us.” Warren stood up, pointing aggressively at the crying woman on the screen, his voice dripping with venomous condemnation.
“The Prescott Group will absolutely not tolerate this kind of scum in our ranks.”
He pointed his finger sharply at Phoenix, treating her not like his daughter, but like a convicted criminal.
Phoenix's lips twitched into a faint smirk. She couldn't have cared less about his theatrical accusations.
She raised an eyebrow, casually swiveling her chair toward the screen to look at the familiar face crying in the live stream.
It was Cassandra Lucas.
On the screen, Cassandra looked completely haggard. Tear tracks stained her face, and her agonizing breakdown made her look incredibly pitiful.
The live viewer count had already surged past one hundred thousand, making it glaringly obvious that someone had pumped serious cash into boosting her stream's algorithm.
“Everyone, I started this stream to publicly beg for mercy from someone. But... I can't say her name here.” Cassandra spoke directly into the camera, pressing her hands together in a desperate plea. Her voice was completely raw, shaking violently as if she had been subjected to the most horrific psychological torture.
“I was wrong. I'm begging you, please let me go. Please let the Lucas family live.”
“I had a lapse of judgment and made a stupid joke. But I never imagined one joke would make you angry enough to use your power to drive my entire family into bankruptcy.”
“I'm sorry, I'm so sorry! I'm begging you!”
With that, Cassandra completely collapsed to the floor in front of the camera.
Her agonizing cries echoed through the speakers.
She buried her face in her trembling hands, breaking down completely.
The raw display of utter despair happened so fast that the viewers could barely process it.
