Barrett Lowery was back in his wheelchair.
The face that had once radiated calculated confidence, the look of a man who believed he controlled everything, was now completely drained, leaving nothing but a hollow, ashen defeat.
Emmett Osborne glared down at him, suddenly raising his hand to deliver a vicious, echoing slap across Barrett's face.
Smack!
Barrett's head snapped to the side from the impact. When he finally looked up again, his eyes were still dull and lifeless.
"Barrett, get this through your head right now. You are nothing more than a dog owned by the Osborne family. Until I give you permission, you will wipe that pathetic, half-dead look off your face!"
Emmett's voice was frigid, dripping with absolute authority. "Otherwise, I'll put you out of your misery right now. And it won't just be you—I will make sure the entire Lowery family is completely erased from Cloudhaven!"
At the mention of "Cloudhaven," a tiny ripple finally broke through the dead waters of Barrett's eyes.
"Mr. Osborne, I'm already a complete cripple. What possible use could I still have for you?"
"Plenty," Emmett sneered. "Phoenix has made quite a name for herself in Highcrest now. She's bound to pour all her energy into securing her foothold here. Which means her home base in Cloudhaven will be completely exposed. Since your legs are useless now, you have the perfect excuse to retreat to Cloudhaven and tear her backyard to pieces for me!"
A sharp, brilliant light exploded in Barrett's eyes.
He was right. Phoenix's foundation was in Cloudhaven. The moment her headquarters was destroyed, her plans in Highcrest would suffer a catastrophic blow.
"Isabella Sinclair lost massive face tonight; there is no way she's letting this go. The Quincy family is going to completely blacklist Phoenix in Highcrest," Emmett added darkly. "We'll crush her from both sides. I don't care how capable she thinks she is, there is no escaping this!"
Barrett gripped the armrests of his wheelchair so tightly his knuckles turned white, a venomous glare returning to his eyes. "Mr. Osborne, thank you... Thank you for giving me another chance at revenge. This time, I will make sure she pays for everything, with interest!"
...
Meanwhile, at the St. Claire estate.
Outside the main gates, Duncan, Lorraine, and Jade were being mercilessly driven out by Jasper and a team of staff.
One second, they were the masters of the luxurious estate, and the next, they were tossed out onto the street like stray dogs.
"Duncan, from today onward, this is Ms. Prescott's private residence. We ask that you do not return and disturb her," Jasper stated coldly, his tone strictly business.
"Jasper! I am the legitimate heiress of the St. Claire family!" Jade shrieked, clutching her face. "That bitch Phoenix has only been here for one day, and you're already bowing to her? Have you completely lost your dignity?!"
Jasper's expression darkened instantly. His eyes turned ice-cold as he raised a hand. "Miss St. Claire has insulted Ms. Prescott. Slap her."
