Reborn: Apocalypse Ready. War Goddess by My Side novel Chapter 291

The pace would slow down now, of course. Evolving to Three–Sigil changed the math

Bianca was still beaming, that unguarded smile he loved.

“I told you I would catch up eventually. Steven, what level are you now?

“I might not be stronger than you yet, but at least I can fight beside you.”

Steven wiped his mouth and said nothing.

He stood, took her hand, and pulled her out of the dining room.

Bianca blinked.

“Steven? You didn’t answer me.”

Without a word, he led her to the living room and settled onto the couch, drawing her gently into his arms

The unexpected tenderness caught her completely off guard.

Wasn’t he supposed to be impressed?

His voice was soft when he finally spoke. “You’ve had a rough month, haven’t you?”

Bianca pressed her lips together. Saying it hadn’t been difficult would have been a lie.

For an entire month, she had refused to waste even a single minute.

Even while eating, a divine crystal remained clenched in her hand.

Every battle drained her strength, and before she could continue her Evolution, she first had to recover herself to peak condition.

Time had become her most precious resource.

Everything else had fallen away.

She had dropped every class.

She held Steven tighter and buried her face against his chest, shaking her head.

“It wasn’t hard. Every time I think about being able to help you someday, it doesn’t feel like work. I was happy. Every level I gained made me happy.”

Steven kissed her forehead, soft and slow.

“I don’t want you exhausting yourself like that.

“No evolving tonight. Just sleep. Get a real night’s rest.

Bianca nodded. “Okay”

Chapter 291 A Month of Distance

A flush crept across her cheeks.

There was still the surprise.

They curled into the couch together, thinking about nothing in particular.

Bianca asked him to tell her about the outside world, everything that had happened while she was gone

Steven told her about the Captain. About Yvonne and Theodore. The whole tangled history of who loved whom and who had been hurt.

By the time he finished. Bianca’s eyes glistened with tears.

“Captain Greenwood has suffered so much. They should’ve had a happy life together.”

Her expression hardened. “It’s all because of the God Eaters. And Douglas.”

Steven rubbed soothing circles along her back.

“We’ll settle those debts. All of them. Some things have to be answered.”

Bianca nodded. “I want to help.”

Steven shrugged. “Elliot comes from the Fraser family. They’ve always had decent values. But his little schemes aren’t any more sophisticated than Spencer’s. Manageable.

“Speaking of which, he’ll probably send Autumn to hang around me again. Don’t get jealous when that happens. I need to figure out how to turn the tables on them.”

Bianca nodded. “I trust you. Just don’t use my trust as an excuse to do anything stupid.”

Steven laughed. “Not a chance. I already have a girlfriend who looks like she walked out of a painting. Why would I look twice at anyone else?”

The evening slipped by unnoticed. Neither of them wanted to leave the warmth of the couch.

They talked about everything and nothing. Since Bianca hadn’t returned home once during the past month, they agreed to go back together over the weekend.

The night deepened.

Steven stole more time with her, kissed her until she finally pushed him toward the bedroom, reluctant but firm.

“Bianca, didn’t you say there was another surprise before bed?”

Her cheeks burned as she shoved him through the doorway.

“I’ll tell you in a minute. Take a shower first.”

She closed the door behind him, her heart hammering.

Steven found it odd, but he showered anyway.

He had told her to rest tonight, and he meant it.

But his own Evolution couldn’t stop.

He lay down on the bed to wait.
