Chapter 37 Bring Her Home

Steven froze for a moment before quickly shaking his head.

How could he possibly admit that?

Finished

Even though Peter had already clarified some things afterward, Steven still refused to acknowledge it.

He still hadn’t figured out the secrets of his own body. He didn’t want to attract unnecessary attention.

“Peter killed it. After he passed out, I just stabbed it one more time and destroyed its brain.“/

Alan glanced at Steven and didn’t believe that at all.

But he had no intention of exposing the lie.

Alan said, “If you complete your Divine Awakening successfully, I’d like to invite you to join Team Ashen.

Steven smiled. “Then let’s wait until after my awakening. What happens afterward is hard to say.”

Alan nodded.

Steven continued, “That underground pipeline still needs to be sealed off. If this keeps happening, nobody is gonna survive it.”

Alan nodded again. “We’ve already notified the military. They’ve sent people to destroy it.”

A while later, Peter’s injuries had finally stabilized.

“Captain, we can head back now,” one of the team members called out.

Alan nodded. “See

you around.”

Steven smiled and nodded back. “See you.”

Peter was lifted onto a stretcher. He was awake now.

“Wait.”

Everyone paused.

Peter looked toward Steven. “Brat, catch this!”

Three level 2 beast crystals and one level 3 beast crystal flew toward him.

Steven caught them and frowned. “What’s this supposed to mean?”

Peter cursed, “You said you needed beast crystals, didn’t you? So take them!”

Steven shook his head. “Quit screwing around. That’s a level 3 beast crystal. You think those grow on trees? Peter snorted. “If I’m giving them to you, then take them. Why are you acting all wishy–washy?”

Steven still shook his head and tossed them back.

Finished

Peter had nearly died to get those. A level 3 beast crystal was worth an enormous amount.

Steven desperately needed beast crystals, but he couldn’t take them like that.

After all, Peter had saved him, Bianca, and Vanessa.

“Damn, you little brat. Now you’re getting emotional?”

Steven rolled his eyes. “Get lost! You’re the one being emotional.”

The team members stared at the two of them curiously. Were those two that close already?

Perhaps only Steven understood. Among Awakened Squad members, Peter’s personality was the easiest to get along with. In many ways, he resembled Steven from his previous life, so the two of them naturally clicked very quickly.

Peter snorted softly, but he still pulled out the three level 2 beast crystals and casually tossed them over again.

“Take them or don’t. Too lazy to argue with you.

“Alright, buddies! Let’s go home!”

The team burst into laughter as they carried him away.

Steven looked at the three level 2 beast crystals on the ground and smiled knowingly.

Then he bent down and picked them up.

Afterward, he glanced around at the destroyed ruins everywhere.

“Bianca, Vanessa, your house is completely wrecked. Come stay at my place. We still have spare rooms.”

Hehe. Surely I can finally bring the future Ember Eternal home, right?

Steven looked at his grandfather’s unusually enthusiastic behavior and raised an eyebrow slightly. Was that really the same stubborn old man?

Brian walked ahead of them.

“We’ve got two empty rooms. You two can each take one.”

Vanessa hurriedly waved her hands. “No need. The two of us can share one room.”

He chuckled. “That’s fine too. Empty rooms are wasted anyway. Tomorrow, I’ll help you bring back more things from your house. Then you can decorate however you like.”

Everyone set down their belongings.

Brian smiled and asked, “Have you all eaten dinner yet?”

“We already ate,” Steven answered first.

“Good. Then hurry up and help them settle in. Get some rest early tonight. Anything else can wait until

tomorrow.”

“Got it. I’m on it.”

Steven set down the things in his hands and jogged over to the west–side room to tidy it up.

Their home had the layout of a townhouse courtyard. It wasn’t large, but it felt warm and cozy. It was much

better than Bianca’s home.

“I’ll help too!” Bianca quickly followed after him.
