"What are you doing here so early in the morning?"
Qin Wenhao demanded, his voice gruff.
"Oh, I’m here with a message. My parents want to invite you and Sister-in-law to dinner. I was wondering if she’s free?"
"She’s been very busy lately. She doesn’t have time," Qin Wenhao rejected him outright.
Qin Wenshu was confused. "That busy? Not even on her days off? Don’t students get Sundays off?"
Just then, Fu Mingxue spoke up. "I don’t have class on Sunday, but I have to go to the research institute, and I might be there for a while."
"Then how about dinner on Friday?"
Seeing how insistent he was, Fu Mingxue felt it would be rude to refuse and nodded. "──That works."
Hearing those two words, Qin Wenshu, as if afraid she’d change her mind, quickly said, "Then it’s settled! Dinner at my place on Friday."
Fu Mingxue nodded. "Okay."
At that moment, Qin Wenhao walked over and shot Qin Wenshu a sideways glance. "Now that you’ve said your piece, isn’t it time for you to get lost?"
"Hey now, Brother Wenhuo, what’s the rush? I’ll just have a few more... Besides, you made so many of these pan-fried buns, you’ll never finish them all. They’ll spoil in this heat—"
Qin Wenhao sneered. "You don’t need to worry about that. We have a refrigerator."
Qin Wenshu was speechless. ’...Is having a refrigerator such a big deal?’
’Okay, fine, it is a pretty big deal.’
’After all, his family hadn’t managed to buy one yet.’
’His frugal mother wouldn’t allow it.’
Shoving a whole bun into his mouth, he asked indistinctly, "I’ll just have two more. By the way, where did you buy these pan-fried buns? I’ll have to go get some myself later. They’re delicious."
"Qin Wenhao made them himself." Fu Mingxue’s answer stunned Qin Wenshu.
He nearly choked to death on the bun he’d just swallowed without chewing properly.
After a few violent coughs, the crisis was averted.
"Sister-in-law, could you please not say such shocking things next time? Especially when I’m eating!"
