Hades POV

I do up the buttons on my shirt with shaking hands and step into the nearest bathroom. I wash my hands and smooth down my hair, eyeing myself in the mirror. There’s no sign of what just happened back in that room. [/let out an exhale, even as I smell Raven’s subtle scent on me. At least it wasn’t strong due to her being wolf-less, and I could easily explain it away. I step back out, realizing that I had left my jacket and bow tie behind, and then shrugged, walking outside. Marissa is waiting by the stage, a foul look on her face. Quite some time has passed since we had our argument. If she ever found out what happened between Raven and me…no, Raven wasn’t the type of girl to go and tell. It made me feel slightly guilty. I had gone overboard back there, given in to my desires and allowed my primal instincts to run free. Shifters were highly sexual creatures and loved to explore their dark sides. I was no different. Probably worse in fact, considering I was an Alpha. I was definitely not the vanilla type of/

“Where have you been?” Marissa hissed, “do you know how long I’ve been waiting for you?”

Her mother, whom I already strongly dislike, puts a warning hand on Marissa’s arm and shakes her head. Marissa flattens her lips and falls silent, still sulking.

“Your jacket and bowtie are missing,” her mother comments casually.

“It was hot,” I force myself to be nonchalant.

“Hmmm” is all she says, her voice criticizing.

I eye her, daring her to continue, and she looks away, flattening her lips.

“Let’s get this over and done with,” I say icily.

Whoops and hollers. I pull our hands down and then disengage mine as Marissa continues to smile, unable to contain her joy now that we’ve declared it to everyone important. Alphas and Lumas came up to personally congratulate us, but I noticed that most of them gave Marissa a wary look. With her outburst earlier, people certainly hadn’t warmed up to her. She would have to figure out some damage control and establish relationships with other packs further down the line, and I made a mental note to make that a priority once we were married.

What about Raven? A little voice said smarmily inside my head.

What about her? I had made it obvious that what we had just shared was a one-time thing and no repeat of it.

You said that about the kiss, too. Lucifer was smug, and now look at where that’s gotten you.

Shut up, Lucifer. You didn’t exactly make it easy to resist her, I growled, reminding him of how he’d tested my boundaries and then stepped right over them.
